Hi ladies! Hope the planning is going well…
Just wanted to write a quick post with an update and (honest) review of my experience buying from MoissaniteCo.com.
A quick recap of my story – I actually traded in my diamond in favour of a moissy. There are many reasons to make this change, but if you are curious to know, feel free to PM me! In any case, I ordered my choice from MoissaniteCo. on Sept 7, 2012. Since my ring size is quite small (3.75) and I ordered it in palladium, it was a basically a custom order, so I was anticipating a 7-10 day processing time (as per their website). On Sept 18th, I sent an email wondering about the status of my order as it had not yet shipped. The customer service people responded right away (like, within 2 minutes) and said it would be shipped out the next day or in 2 days at the very latest.
Sure enough, the very next afternoon I got an email saying my order had shipped! So, all in all it was a 12 day processing time, which is a bit longer than they claim for most special orders. No sweat though, after dealing with a terrible resize job on my first ring, I was more than happy to wait an extra couple of days for the perfect ring.
I am in Canada, so my major concern was getting the ring across the border without any customs hang ups. I was hoping to receive my shipment by the estimated delivery date (exactly 2 days after shipping), but unfortunately this didn’t happen. I am suspicious though, that FedEx tried to call me to arrange duty payment first thing the next morning, but unfortunately I missed that call and don’t have voicemail (phone service mess up). Anyway, Fedex DID call me first thing the following morning (day 2) to arrange duty payment (it was $22 – awesome!). The agent said I would receive my shipment as early as the following day.
To my surprise, the ring arrived around 11:00AM the next morning! So, total ship time was 3 days. Still pretty good considering it stopped in customs.
When I opened the packaging (which is really quite nice considering you’re buying online!) I was SO impressed! As many other women out there have expressed, it can be nerve-wracking to buy something as important and precious as an e-ring online, especially with a gemstone you have never seen in person! Needless to say, the pictures online TOTALLY do the ring justice – it looked just like it did in all of the lovely photos on here, maybe even more beautiful.
Gem – My only complaint is that it DOES have a bit of a yellow/warm tone, despite the enhancement. I had thought that the Amora enhancement would have mostly corrected that, so I was slightly disappointed, wondering whether it was worth the cost.
Setting – the setting I had picked out was GORGEOUS. It is a less common setting, so I didn’t have many real-life pictures to look at. However I was (and still am!) VERY impressed with how it looked on my hand. The only issue I have with the setting is that it feels a little big and still kinda slides off my hand as easily as my last ring (size 4). So I wonder if sizing *does* run a little big as other bees have pointed out.
With that said, here is the rundown on my purchase:
Gem: 6mm (.75 equivalent) enhanced Amora
Processing time: 12 days
Ship time: 3 days
Customer Service: 8/10 (re: slow processing/ship time)
Gem quality: 8/10 (warmer than anticipated considering Amora enhancement)
Ring quality: 10/10 (LOVE the setting + wedding band, they look PERFECT together! The palladium also looks lovely and strong)
Overall score: 26/30 🙂 –> I would consider this a very good experience.
Now, the pictures!
