I have been looking for a cuprian/paraiba tourmaline for a while now. They contain copper and manganese and it’s the copper that gives the stone its glow, even at low light. I was very particular about the color; I wanted a blue-green, not a green-blue, if that makes any sense. The stone came from a man who collected gems for over 60 years. My daughter says it’s amazing in person, but photos don’t quite capture the glow. Nevertheless, I tried. Please forgive my overlarge pictures.

Thanks so much everyone! The ring isn’t an engagement ring, it’s a combination birthday/anniversary/holiday gift. In March my husband and I celebrate 27 years of marriage. I wear it on my right hand with my eternity band which was a previous anniversary gift. (I found weddingbee while planning my friend’s shower last summer).
