Thanks for the review! I’m going to be using them to make my album and an album for my parents as soon as I get my pics back. I’ll be sure to check for the text boxes on mine!

@dynamic_duo:  Thanks for the in-depth review!  Ever since I discovered AdoramaPix (through the Bee of course), I always figured I’d get our albums made through them as well.  I’m glad they met your expectations for the most part.  Where are you thinking you might get the wedding album done for you and your husband?

Did you uncheck the option to have Adoramapix do color correction? I think I read a review of the company before saying that was why their pictures came back looking strange.

We ordered a 12×12 76 page wedding album from them and were very happy with the final product. (No pictures atm, unfortunately) They struck the right balance between a quality book–one with thick pages, seamless two page spreads, and lay-flat binding–and economical price.

The only issue I noticed was that they didn’t seem to cut or print the pages at *exactly* the right place, so a few spreads weren’t centered top-to-bottom. OCD me only noticed this on a few pages, however, and it very well may have been my own human error/design choice rather than the company.

We waited to order the book until our size was on sale for 20% off, and plan to do the same for our honeymoon album. We also ordered a ton of prints on sale and were happy with those.

Thanks so much for the review! Mine should be delivered today so I’ll have to see if I notice some of the same things in regards to color. I included a few non-pro pics at the end as well for garter toss and dances with the parents – they were a little dark before so I hope they are ok.

I think I’m going to end up being like you and wanting Somerset for our own.

@dynamic_duo: Great!  Thanks so much for the info and link.  I’ll definitely be checking it all out.  We won’t be ordering one for at least 6 months, most likely longer, but it’ll be good to do research early.  Thanks again!

@dynamic_duo: I’d ask for a reprint because of the black lines. If it’s hidden under the photo, you shouldn’t see it in the finished product.

As far as my experience goes I’m extremely happy with my Adoramapix albums, especially for the price. I ordered a 10X10 with 50 pages for us and an 8X8 with 38 pages for each set of parents.  The templates that Adoramapix has are easy to use and modify. With our album I started out with one of their templates (under photography, I started with the classic), but throughout making the album I really customized the album, so the finished product doesn’t look anything like the template. I also mixed some non-pro photos in and selected the color correction. With all three albums all of the images look ok by me as far as exposure (mine didn’t come out too dark). Below are a few photos of the book.

With the parent albums, I stuck more closely to the template selected (under wedding it’s the contemporary template). I had fun making the albums (although I will concede I’m a dork).

Great review- I don’t know if anyone has said this, but people need to be careful with autocorrect options. Especially if the monitor isn’t calibrated (most are not). I have a professional album account and have used blurb- for the price, blurb was pretty great when I upgraded the paper.

Hi! @purpleunicorn This is Libby from Adoramapix.com I’m the new Social Media Manager and just found this great review. Thank you so much for your business.

I see this post was from earlier this year but I would like to know if you were able to connect with us regarding the issue of the black line under your photo in the software, then having it show up when printed? I would like to follow up on this.

Please feel free to email me at: [email protected]

Again — Thank you.

Delightfully,

Libby

Just wanted to jump in and say I got both my albums and have no complaints. Like PurpleUnicorn, I did have some backgrounds come out a bit darker than I expected (remember the roses backgrounds I used, PurpleUnicorn?), but they did not look bad – just a little different from what I expected.

I’m too lazy at this point to take pics and post them, but I definitely feel I got my money’s worth and parents will love them. However, also like PurpleUnicorn, I think for our own album, I want to go for something more – like a Somerset album.

Edit: forgot to add I also used the color correction and had half a page of non-pro pics. They do look different from the pro ones, but I think they turned out as well as could be expected.

Here are some pics of our album!

The cover. Shiny finish.

An example of a two page spread:

The seam is only noticeable over dark colors.

Another two pager, this one without glare.

You can see that how the books are put together causes some lifting on the back page, and the bending of the book makes the corners pull (the white spots look bigger in the photo than they do in person). You can also see that the pages are thicker than most DIY photobooks. They feel very sturdy in hand.

The size of the 12×12 in comparison to our coffee table.
