Ever bought a nail polish only to have it look nothing like what’s in the bottle? AND it looks even MORE different under various sources of light? No? Me either.
So the plan had been the adorable “Louboutin nails”, but when BF took me to Sally Beauty Supply he decided he would like something brighter:
BF: “How about those stiletto nails in bright red?”
BF: “Why not?”
Me: “…because I’m not Cruella DeVille???”
He picked out this awesome seafoam color and we went home. I did my nails and went to take a picture, when it became very clear something was up: they were showing up BLUE in the photos. I tried taking various photos with multiple cameras all over our place: in the kitchen, in the bathroom, in the closet, but to no avail. The damn things still looked blue. I’ll admit I started to panic (Baby Bridezilla, anyone?) and started pacing around whinning about what to do in what I can only imagine was an increasingly-obnoxious pitch. Only when I turned on my flash was I able to capture a photo that most closely represents the color at that moment:
So, I go to bed, satisfied I’ve captured the “look” I want in the photos with my ring. Then I wake up this morning. I’m getting ready, brushing my teeth, when I look down and about shit. You see, the feeling my nail color is evoking is a lot less this:
…and alot more THIS:
In case I’m being vague: my nails are fucking green. I guess the name “Anaconda Liked It” should have tipped me off.

Aww. Sorry they didn’t turn out how you hoped. If you’re going for the Tiffany Blue color I might suggest trying Sephora OPI “Read my Palm” I agree it’s hard to photograph sometimes and get it to show up right but here you can see my best attempt at capturing the color. I have also had some weird nail polish moments where the color just seemed “off” in certain lighting etc..don’t let it get you too stressed, your nails look great.

I love that color! Thank you!!

You should try Essie “Turquoise and Caicos”. I love that color.
This is the color with 2 coats, although I would recommend 3 coats…I was just too lazy lol
I’m sad he didn’t like the “Louboutin Nails” though : You should do them one day just because they’re so awesome haha

OP, sorry that happened! I always find that frustrating when the colour is completely different on the nails than in the bottle!
I second Essie Turquoise and Caicos (:
I also highly recommend China Glaze “For Audrey”. It was made as a tribute or something to Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast at Tiffany’s so it’s the exact colour of a tiffany’s box.
Here’s a really bad photo (it’s from our first Valentine’s together during our senior year of highschool) of my “For Audrey” nails with my Tiffany’s box + promise ring.
Here’s a picture I found on Google of the comparason between the two (:

I love Turqouise and Caicos! It’s one of my fave Essie shades.
What exactly are “Louboutin” nails? Are those the ones where the inner part of the nail (the part that hangs over the finger – the inside part) is painted red?

exactly! I suggested it on her other thread

@badabing88: I’m sorry they didn’t turn out well, and I don’t use nail polish much so I don’t have any good suggestions, but I just wanted to say your post was hilarious lol

I’m digging them, even if they are green! Also, i’m super jealous that you did them yourself and they look that awesome! When I do my own, it looks like a 3 year old got ahold of some nail polish and went to town.

I was bummed about the Louboutin nails too, but I’m loving the T&C color!!!
LOL thanks girl, up close I need do a little better on the edges of my acrylic, but I’m self-taught so unfortunatley it’s kind of been trial and error :-p And seriously: they are straight up GREEN. Intensely green. BF insists he likes them, I’m not buying it lol.
LMAO well I’m glad you enjoyed it :-p I feel like quirky crap like this is always happening to me and I need to share it with *someone* :-p

This thread is making me want to buy some nail polish and paint my nails. And I never paint my nails. Like someone else mentioned, it looks like a 3 year old did my nails whenever I try.
But I am tempted…lol!

Well then next time I go get my nails done, I’ll get them green so you’re not alone! Lol!

I really sucked at it at first (still not by any means perfect), but like anything else, if you practice it enough you can definitely learn. I used to spend about $200/month on my acrylic nails, and doing it myself I may spend $5-10 (and that’s only if I run out of tips or find a color I want).
LMAO great: we can look like the Wicked Witch together 😉

I think they still look good & I’m loving the accent nail. Although I was really hoping you’d do the loubie nails!
I’m so jealous of all the pretty colors. I can’t wear regular polish because it’ll chip like hell on me after 24 hours. I’m way too hard on my nails so I can only wear shellac/gel polish and the colors I have are SO boring! I need to figure out where to buy some better shades.

Gelish is another gel polish brand and they have TONS of really fun colors. They’re sold at professional beauty supply stores, so if you have a friend who’s licensed to do hair, skin, or nails get her/him to take you!
