- Wedding: October 2011
Alright ladies am in need of your ideas/ opinions –
I am having a Friday evening outside wedding for about 125 people in late October. The more I see black bridesmaid dresses, the more I love them! I do not have a specific color scheme but am going with the fall theme without anything harvesty ( ex nay on using using wheat, or big orange pumpkins and squash, etc. ) My venue:
I am in love with the idea of dressing up my venue with these beautiful colors and flowers. My inspiration is to line the walkway with jars of fall flowers hanging from shephard hooks and the gazebo being dressed up with lights and maybe a bit of tulling. The reception lodge I am going to have the fireplace roaring, lights hanging from the rafters, the lights dim and centerpieces like this :
I am embracing the season with these adorable white pumpkins and daisies though! I can buy the tiny pumpkins in bulk from the Amish that live about a half hour away from my venue, and buy the daisies wholesale from Sam’s club ( bargain brides unite 🙂 ) . The beautiful sunset roses will prob be limited to 6 per every other table .
So my dilemna is , are black bridesmaid dresses too formal for this kind of wedding? Paired with black suits for the men, is it too much like a funeral ? I originally loved the idea of red dresses but have changed my mind since I saw this pic :
I am letting my BM’s choose their own dresses as long as they are the same fabric, color , and neckline. ( sweetheart like my own dress ). I see them in something like this :
If they decided on short dresses they would need tights, it is chilly in October where I live. I think this would make it less formal looking ?
or something long and flowy like this :
They would carry red bouquets and the men be in black tuxes, with a red vest and tie.
Would this not match my theme, be too formal or look too much like a funeral ?
If I can make it work, what should I change to have it fit in and should the men wear something different?
Thanks in advance 🙂
