honeymama :  Why are they acting like this? To be blunt, it’s probably because they are difficult and negative in general. Your mom’s response to your break-up with your ex sounds like she filters everything through the lens of how it affects her.

We don’t get to pick our blood, and that means sometimes having to love difficult people. You are in the middle of a joyous time in your life with a new baby and a wedding on the horizon. Share your plans and joy with people who will return it in kind. Enjoy it despite your parents negativity and don’t let their attitudes ruin it. Make their attitude their problem. Easier said than done, I know.

Congrats on your baby and engagement!

honeymama :  With your latest update, I am honestly not at all surprised they are acting like this. Take a minute to re-read what you just posted and you’ll realize this reaction is just par for the course with them. Maybe you were hoping that since this is nothing but happy news they’d change their tune…? But unfortunately it sounds like your parents, especially your mother, are just negative, pessimistic, angry people. No matter what, it seems they’ll find a way to turn whatever happy, good news you have into something bad.

Don’t let them rain on your parade. I’d actually start distancing myself from them in your shoes. You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life, especially right now.
