Coral99: Wow! I would have been sooooooo pissed if this happened at my destination wedding! Granted ours had a few problems but not nearly as bad as yours! I was wondering how your whole destination wedding turned out and now i know! I really hope you have at least a few good memories and pics from your wedding day and that they compensate you in some way for all the hassle!

HeartsandSparkles: We heard GREAT things about Runaway Bay! What city is that in again? I am so thrilled to hear you had a great Honeymoon..I love happy Honeymoon stories. 🙂
Yes, we noticed things like that, as well. We were fully NOT expecting accomodations as if we were in the US and frankly, lots of it did make us a bit sad. We also could understand their level of customer service, is not the same as ours…it’s a different country, different ways of doing things, etc.
After further research, I discovered the company that runs Secrets is actually based out of PA, with a full set of internationally based execs, with a few that are educated in the US. So to me, they should have an understanding of customer service that would match our standards. However, we were told that Secrets Jamaica is owned by another person. When they told us that we weren’t sure what that meant. I suppose we will find out soon – my letter is set to go out this week. It’s taken a while to write and I wanted to give plenty of time for our travel agent to try to provide recourse, of which they haven’t. So now, we take the next step.
On a positive note, we are planning a “re-do” Honeymoon for our 1st year anniversary. I am grateful we get to have this chance and am just going into it as a time to have fun. We haven’t quite decided yet where but we are looking at another Secrets or their Zoetry line.
On thing to note, is while we were in Jamaica, we spoke with a customer service manager, who was from Columbia. She was wonderful. She said she too, understood about the lack of customer service and said she wasn’t excusing them but wanted us to know it’s the culture. She said Mexican and Latin America countries, are very grand and their actions match it. She said it’s the culture. She said she had been with the hotel brand for 8 years and worked in different countries, and Jamaica took the longest to get used to. We don’t know if this is true but it was nice information to have.

sweetchiquita12: Awww, thanks for the support. Yeah…it was really hard to deal with. Sucked.
We are still working on the recourse part.
We do have a few pics! And the actual wedding day went fine…it really did. So that is a blessing! I would love to say that it made up for everything that happened before and after that but it didn’t. But we have another trip planned and I feel like one way or another, things will get worked out.
