As I announced yesterday, my fh proposed to me. Immediately after the shock wore off I began to really put things into perspective. Originally we wanted to get married in May.. yes in 3 measly months–but now I want to wait. I mean if we are going to spend our lives together why not enjoy our engagement and chill out for a bit?
I also wanted to get engagement pictures done next week but now I want to wait until spring/summer to do it. I expressed this to my s/o immediately after the proposal and he was relieved I felt that way!! Right now we are enjoying this new chapter and letting this chips fall where they may.
Has anyone else had this revelation? Oh btw, we will get married this year, we just don’t know the date as of yet.

@1blingedoutbride: I can totally see where you are coming from. I can quite understand that when something becomes a certainty rather than a much-hoped for dream, that you feel much better able to sit back and say “Hey, let’s not rush to do everything right this minute!”. Because suddenly, there’s time to enjoy just being engaged.
Congratulations on your proposal too.

I had the same feeling after my Fiance proposed. He only did it last week, but I was amazed at how quickly the date we had talked about prior to engagement suddenly seemed too far away, how the venue we had originally loved was not going to work out (too expensive :/ even for a 32 month engagement haha), and a couple of other things. We want a long engagement, but our timeline almost seemed TOO long once it was actually “official.” Now we’re mulling over everything and I feel as if I’m back to square one, but also feeling a little relieved. A lot of decisions and suggestions had come from my planning in my head or places that I specifically wanted, and now I’m so looking forward to embarking on this with FI’s help and getting his input and his opinions and making it really about us.
Congratulations on the engagement!
