That’s a very sweet story; I love the part when you go He. Never. Looks. At. Jewelry. ๐Ÿ™‚

As for your vote, I voted for “Other” as I wanted the first option MINUS the camera man. You see, I’m from Sweden, where people are extremely practical when it comes to proposals. It’s usually something you both agree to after a discussion, you then select the bands together (both wear E-bands) and normally you’re engaged for years before you actually get married. I never pictured a fairytale wedding, but I wanted a fairytale proposal – not a “let’s discuss the pros and cons after dinner and decide by dessert”. My now Fiance had asked me earlier if I had a “dream proposal” and I told him I wanted it to happen somewhere abroad (so not Canada, not Sweden), I wanted it to be a surprise and I wanted it to be just the two of us. So, last Easter we went to Bermuda (barely made it, lost the passport and it was gone up until 4 hours before the flight was due!). It was an amazing trip and we had so much fun. We’re hugely into hiking, so one day we decided to cover as big a chunk of the island as we could. We headed out, walked for a few hours, had brunch at Fairmont, climbed a lighthouse and then reached a wonderful little beach that was empty. There were tidal pools at the bottom, and I was running around looking into them. In one, I saw a shell that I wanted (job thing, it was a new specimen to me), but it was quite deep and I thought the water was too cold. So I asked my Fiance to get it for me, he walked into the pool, picked up the shell with his back against me, turned around and produced a small silver box. Then he fell to his knees and asked me to marry him. It really was as far from a standard Swedish proposal as I can think of, and I still get all emotional looking down on my hand and remembering that day. We’ve now been engaged for almost 10 months and I’ve never been this happy!

And also, I know how you feel about the whole “He never looks at jewelry” thing. I know my SO is serious about getting engaged because she hasn’t minded looking at rings with me or rings for herself which is completely out of the ordinary.
