- Wedding: May 2016
I have been engaged since July 27 but I have been reading so many of the proposal stories that I just had to share my own…..I dont know why I didn’t share it sooner lol.
He first told me he had a whole day planned for my birthday celebration, my birthday being July 31.
The day started with watching the sunrise in Montauk. Right before the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen, Andrew gave me a hand made wooden ring that he placed on the chain of my necklace. We then spent the rest of the day together relaxing and went to a movie and dinner at Red Lobster in the evening. After dinner Andrew said he needed to set some equipment up at the church for an event the following night. We went to the church and he set up a video camera and had three very special songs playing. The first was “Glorious Unfolding” by Steven Curtis Chapman. The Second was “Remain” by Royal Tailor. Andrew noticed I couldn’t stop touching the wooden ring he had put on my necklace so he suggested taking it off so I could hold it. Right before the third and final song he took me by the hands and had me stand in front of the alter with him. We talked for a moment and than he said do you have any idea where this is headed. I was so speechless all I could do was nod vigorously. He than asked if I knew it was going to happen today and again still being speechless I shook my head no. The final song, our song, “God Gave Me You” by Dave Barnes, had started and Andrew got down on one knee and pulled out the most gorgeous homemade wooden ring box I have ever seen. He than took the wooden ring and used it as the key to open the box. In the box was an absolutely stunning diamond engagement ring. As he opened Andrew said “Kaitlyn will you marry me?” Of course I said “Absolutely!” and we listened to the rest of our song as I stood there in awe of both the box and the ring.
