I’ll try to keep this brief. We’re married and everything went so much more smoothly than expected! The weather co-operated, even though it looked like it was going to rain all day.
Our guests loved it. We got a lot of “this is (THE/one of the) best wedding(s) ever” They might have just been being nice, but I’ll take it. 😉 We wanted everyone to have fun, and we think everyone did. The food was fantastic and there was lots for everyone. In lieu of a cake (we don’t even like cake!) we had an ice cream truck, and everyone loved that. It was Canada Day weekend, so we had fireworks to cap off the night. A few of my new BILs were in their glory “living their childhood dream” setting them off. LOL.
Important note: we did this all on a tight budget and it didn’t put us into debt. You don’t have to spend a ton of money. Just take care of your guests and keep the focus off things that no one will remember a year later.
The only minor things that went wrong: the hostess bought bubbles for our recessional, and we all forgot. My necklace was on backwards because I couldn’t find the light switch in the room with the mirror outside where I got ready. My boutonniers/corsages/bouquet didn’t look nearly as nice as when I did the trial. And there were a few photos I wanted and didn’t get a chance to take. But NO ONE noticed these things. It was fine! And the flowers looked great in the photos!
(ETA) The bubbles were brought out not long after the ceremony, and the kids plus the “adult children” had a lot of fun blowing bubbles during the cocktail hour. Heh.
Thanks again for everyone’s help. It wouldn’t have been half as smooth without the advice/discussions I read here.

megrays : Haha, my $100 gown was already a mess from walking around in the grass, so I took my chances with the chocolate ice cream. 😉 YOLO

Your dress is so similar to mine!!! I got married in April in a vintage off shoulder gown. X see it in my recap!
Beautiful photos and congratulations. 🙂

tillymac : You’re right, they’re similar! They looked good on us, didn’t they? 😉 I wanted off-the-shoulder to take the emphasis off my armband tattoos. I still love them, but I would have felt a little weird looking like a total rock-n-roll bride.
BTW, it bunched up on me in a lot of the pics. I think I ate way too much in the days before the wedding. LOL. Wouldn’t have it any other way, though.

megrays : I was about to say that! At my wedding we had these tomato sauce covered meatballs and everytime I grabbed one multiple people would gasp and lean over to hold napkins under my face.
Looks like you had a great wedding! The important thing is that the couple is truly happy and having fun. Everything else just falls into place when that happens.
