Today I thought I was being quite productive and organising things for the wedding.
I was finalising our venue – We had made a tentative booking in late november and due to pay our deposit mid january, I actually had gone to the bank and withdrew the money, had gotten back from the bank and FH had just had a phonecall from the reception venue and they said they wouldnt be able to do our wedding!
When we had gone to confirm our booking everything was all ok. Able to fit 150 people in with a cocktail reception. The venue is run by a husband and wife team. During this time about mid december, the husband passed away. We sent flowers and understood that if she couldnt do our wedding, she said it would be fine.. but today she called and cancelled.
I understand, Im a bit devestated tho, have to do the whole reception venue hunt again and literally the choices of were we can have our wedding are limited..
Making me a bit stressed as we should be have the major things booked by now.. I.e reception venue, and caterer.
I had to call the caterer and put him on hold because depending on the reception venue depends on the caterer.
We are thinking of having a marquee hire but the lady that does the quotes in the one and only place in our city that hires marquees is away till thursday.

I’m sorry. That sucks! Was there any other venues you loved when looking at them before?

Not that can fit 150 people. There was one that we liked but you have to have the caterer that they have there.
And he was charging astronomical amount for a simple menu, we couldnt justify it. We found a caterer that gave us a great menu and alot more for 6 dollars cheaper than the other caterer.
We are just really limited on choice for venues in our small city. We are even considering cutting our numbers by 50 to be able to fit into a suitable venue.

So sorry for the unneeded stress, but sounds like you’ve got a good plan on how to work it out…keep us posted

I am so sorry your venue got cancelled. I am sure you will find something even better though. Maybe your caterer has some suggestions?

Oh I’m so sorry. That really sucks! I can even imagine what that must feel like. Good luck in your new search hun.

Good luck, it’s terrible news but considering what happened I don’t think they’re being totaly unreasonable. I know that doesn’t make it any better at all, but you may find a more perfect venue now! Maybe some of the Australia brides will have some fabulous not-as-well known venue suggestions in your area?

Sorry and hope that you find something soon. We didn’t book our venue until 7 mos before, and I totally understand I think that was THE biggest headache, but something will come up, just when we thought there was nothing we could afford that we liked, we found one! Good luck! And don’t forget to ask friends, co-workers, etc, for suggestions.
