So, here’s the story:
Fiance proposed two weeks ago when we were in bed, without a ring, or really much warning. It’s totally how we do things. We picked out the ring last week, but we wanted a lab-created stone and it kite set, so we had to wait until the next day to get it, except we had previous commitments that weekend, and we were living in different cities, so I had to wait until Friday to ge the ring. But now I have it, family and close friends know, and here it is:
Oh, and my nails are supposed to be done and pretty and everything (they’re galaxy nails, which are perfectly nerdy and so me) but they just aren’t photographing well, so they’re not in this pic.
It’s from Robbins Bros, btw, and a .73 carat princess cut diamond. My ring size is 9.25 (I know, I know – I have a large bone structure and just generally big, stubby fingers).

We are ring twins! (Mine is currently off being rhodium-dipped for the millionth time – I should have sprung for platinum or palladium, I swear.)
(As a fellow nerd, I’d love to see the galaxy nails, too!)

@zumbaista: congrats. the kite setting is so pretty. what are galaxy nails?

@mypinkshoes: Galaxy nails are painted to resemble galaxies or other astronomical phenomena. If you google “Galaxy nails” you should get a beautiful array of them to look at.
@MrsMc77: I would show them, but they just look smudgy and ugly in photos for some reason. I’ve tried different backgrounds and lighting, but I think it’s just that my technique isn’t very good and that showing through.
And I love my ring. I have a weird habit of becoming hypercritical of new things, so I’m trying to avoid that, even though I can tell it’s not a pure white and such. Must keep my jerkbrain silent on this issue, because I really do love it. Anyone else have the same problem?

@zumbaista: thanks for clearing that up for me. i had a feeling that’s what they sounded like.

I love your ring. I never would have guessed your finger is a nine. The kite setting is very slimming.
