I’m glad your both happy!

I think this is more common than some realize. My friend’s fiance once said something along the lines of her ring being a chance to show off his success, so he was going to get her a damn nice ring. He didn’t have a college education, but was indeed doing quite well (she was too, though went to college). Her ring is lovely.

My fiance wanted something I would be proud to show off. I would have been proud to show off whatever he got, but I think it was also something he wanted to show off too. I don’t think it’s uncommon for some men to want to show off their wealth. I’m not saying it’s right. I think social media affects some of them too.

I love the ring he got.

fcm16 :  Congrats, glad you guys found something that both of you love!

My husband is the same way, he proposed with a 1.43 ct diamond, I have big fingers so I’ve recently been talking about upgrading to a 2ct or bigger. I personally would not want a moissy, but I suggested we go with a lab diamond and husband was totally against it. He’d rather spend the extra money to get a “real diamond”.

My husband has never said this to me, but I do think part of it he likes to kind of show off how well he’s done, especially considering his upbringing.

harlequinade :  My boyfriend is set on a diamond, apparently for visual and emotional reasons. He really wants something nice, even though I’m pushing him towards less expensive stones. I think guys take it to heart with the provider mentality sometimes. I love that he loves to take care of me but it should be for us, not others.

fcm16 :  The giveaway for me is that the first pictures doen’t seem to have as good of lighting but still have colours reflecting in a rainbow, I find this isn’t usually how Moissanite reacts in low light.
