If your ring is the one you love that’s all that matters.  My ring above is only a 1/2 carat and I love it!

@lnadinee:  don’t be sorry for the rant…

I have a purple sapphire ring that I helped design. The number of stones, colours and everything have meaning to me. An engagement ring is so special…it is a symbol of the future…of your love…I am sorry that your friends are so blinded by the fairly new tradition (if you take into account centuries of marriages before now) of diamonds which are really…just heavily controlled and advertised to up their value.

I personally love your ring and not because we are sapphire buddies but because it is a ring that a loving person gave to you. Love is what is the most beautiful part of all this….not the size, style or cost of the ring.

@lnadinee:  I think your ring is so pretty! I think that sapphires, rubies, and emeralds (am I missing any other precious gem?) and right up there in cost/durability/etc as much as diamonds. Some cost more than diamonds, so if people think otherwise, then that’s unfortunate that they don’t know more.

I kind of got a taste of how you’re feeling, showed a friend my ring and she asks me if it’s “real” and I say “it’s a diamond if that’s what you mean?” And she starts going off about how she would never want a diamond and going on about De beers and diamonds are “worthless” and how if her bf proposed with a diamond she would say no.

Then she goes “oh but it’s cute if YOU’RE happy”

I am happy. Thanks jerk.

@lnadinee:  GIRL I made a post related to this garbage as well. I hate how some people can’t accept a gemstone engagement ring as an actual engagement ring. I got a lot of hate on here for posting my thoughts about diamonds, too. People suck sometimes, I’m sorry Cry

@lnadinee:  Your ring is beautiful! God, I love an awesome Sapphire. Your friends sound like airheads. Don’t be afraid to say something. It can be as simple as “Yes, I’ve seen hers. Right now, though, I’m focusing on this incredible ring my fiance got me.” If they don’t get the hint, maybe new friends?

@lnadinee:  Your ring is gorgeous! Some people just don’t have filters. I was talking about wedding rings the other night with my girl friends. Two of them went on a long rant about how wedding rings MUST be plain and that they hated diamond bands. This was just after I told them I had just picked up my diamond wedding band from the store. Seriously!
