Yes, I am sensitive to many metals.

I’m going to look into having it dipped in rhodium–that is supposedly hypo allergenic.

Yes, Because of the molding for my ring, there were two holes inside my ring. Water, lotion, anything liquid that got stuck underneath irritated my finger. It was also a very wide band too. We actually had to exchange it for another ring and to be honest, I like my second ring better

It sure has!  I have been suffering from this since about 3 weeks after we got engaged.  I felt awful because I knew the money and time Fiance spent on the ring!  I get these tiny little red bumps and if I scratch them it causes almost like a little scab.  It is terribly itchy in the middle of the night.  I have tried everything, taking it off at night (which I hate doing), taking it off when I wash my hands as people said it could be the moisture (didn’t help), etc.  I just went to the allergist last week thinking I could discuss this with him too but it turns out that this problem is handled by a dermatologist (figures!!)!  He called one of his derm friends who said that it is very common in women and trial and error is the best way to figure it out.  I have a white gold ring and he said that I should try platinum as that is generally 95% platinum and 5% another metal (not containing nickel).  Other than that he said stainless steel or sterling silver are the other two to try (however our jeweler says sterling silver is so soft I could lose the diamond argh!).  So we are going ot pick out bands soon and will see if the platinum works and switch out the engagement ring to another band if needed.

Whoa sorry for the long post!

This happened to me because I wasn’t fully drying underneath my ring so it was getting red and scaley.  Now, I take off my ring and dry my finger and the inside of the ring after I was my hands every time.

Yes. My Promise ring had a little gap under it where all sorts of cleaning stuff, water, and gunk got cought in it. In turn it would irriatate my finders causing red and white hive like rashes on my ring finger.

Frequent cleaning helped a lot, as well as taking my ring off to wash my hang and drying them well before I put it back on.

But nothing totally made it go away until after we switched to a higher carat of white gold.

Yeah, I would think it might be a nickel allergy?  If your coating is wearing off, the alloy might be bothering you.
