My ring! I love it, but surprised at the size.

anastasiaxo :  The center stone looks large, but I think it’s the halo setting that takes it from an ordinary large stone to something a bit more over-the-top. But I’m not a big fan of halos, so that’s just how I see it.

It will be too large for some people, just right for others. The thing is that “too large” or “just right” or “too small” are just opinions based on people’s own personal preferences. It’s a beautiful ring so you should rock it!

I think some people will say it looks fake just because it’s so big. However context is important. People who know you will know it’s real. If you have a friend who has a ring that size whose Fiance would obviously never be able to afford it, yes you’ll assume it’s fake. If your friend has a ring that size and it’s not out of the ordinary in terms of what the couple could possibly afford, then the assumption is that it’s real.

Plus I am sure the ring looks better in person as well, it’s hard to capture it in pictures.

Idk I think it’s just getting attention because it’s on the larger side AND it’s a pear. Pear diamonds are pretty unique I think. I don’t think I’ve seen one in my everyday life. So I think it’s just a combination of the two. I really don’t find it to be that big or over the top as some people seem to! Plus the fact that it’s yellow gold which also makes it unique.

anastasiaxo :  Remember photographs always make rings look larger than irl. I have a gorgeous diamond but my poor quality phone camera makes it look awful. I think that is what’s going on here. I have no doubt it is a diamond and I love it! It is a beautiful ring, Rock it like nobody’s business!

There’s no doubt that ring is an eye-catcher. It is very big and beautiful!

I don’t go around assuming things about people’s rings, so I probably wouldn’t question if it were a real stone or anything. I would just admire it and move on.

The halo and the setting are what make it look a bit too much to me. I would take a big, beautiful pear like that and let it be the star. Sort of like Blake Lively’s ring. But as long as you love it, who cares!

anastasiaxo :  I LOVE your ring and the first thing I thought was it was a diamond. I personally don’t think it is too over the top. It is gorgeous. If you love it, that’s all that matters.

anastasiaxo :  gaudy. Looks costume. IMO smaller diamonds look more tasteful.

Personally I think this would have looked better as a solitaire or with a more delicate halo. The very chunky bezel halo definitely adds bulk. It is very large for sure, possibly bordering on cocktail. Its quite lovely though, congrats!

anastasiaxo :  I think people calling OP’s ring “gaudy” are being unnecessarily mean. Sometimes, if you don’t have anything nice to say—you know how the phrase goes.

That being said, it is quite large for your small fingers due to the halo, and it doesn’t look like a typical engagement ring; however, I assure you that the engagement ring police aren’t gonna come and confiscate it because it is outside the norm.

I think the reason it could be mistaken for a cocktail ring is because of the halo, honestly. The center stone is beautiful on its own. If you’re concerned about people thinking it’s fake, is it possible to remove the halo and just keep the center stone, or maybe get a smaller halo that complements the stone, rather than overshadows?

The halo makes it look cheap.

But if it floats your boat my opinion doesn’t matter.

I honestly really like your ring. I don’t like all the blingy stuff, but this is still really classy given the shape and modest halo. It’s gorgeous and very classy.
