Well now that my ring is back after it’s repair (remake) I feel like I can put together a full comprehensive review of my experience with Moissaniteco.
I love my ring. I loved it from the moment I saw it but if any of you have read my other posts I received it with a flaw in the band. The band had a slight wave to it. It began annoying the crap out of me so I HAD to send it in. I felt it should be absolutely perfect. On the initial purchase my Fiance had no problems with the company but he didn’t really even talk with them. He knew what I wanted (we picked out a couple together and he had final say) so he just ordered it and that was that. He did say that he received it faster than expected.
The ring is gorgeous. The stone is beautiful too. It can have some warmth at time but nothing unbearable and of course this was a characteristic I expected with a moissy. We picked out a 1.4 equiv Forever Brilliant cushion cut. The setting itself is very secure and sturdy, another thing I was worried about when ordering from them. I didn’t notice the band issue right away. I think I was still on cloud nine but after a couple of weeks it REALLY began to bother me. I contacted Chris through their email function as I found their chat useless and he answered all of my questions. Sometimes his responses lagged a bit but I think they are a bit more concerned with anwering potential new customer emails first. Doesn’t really bother me as long as I get a response within 24 hours or so and I usually did. I asked Chris if he would provide a return shipping label for me due to the fact that it was no fault of my own that caused the ring to look like it did. He sent me one no questions asked. I ended up paying for shipping anyway because I wanted them to receive it faster. When I told Chris this and asked if I could have complementary 2nd day or over night shipping since I didn’t use their label he told me that they could do that for me.
I sent the ring to them on August 1st and just got it back today (August 16th). Not too bad considering they had to remake it entirely. 2 days ago Chris got in touch with me to notify me they just got my ring back from the setting company (Unique Settings NY) and that it was better but not perfect. He also sent me photos. I asked him to just ship it back and he did. He definitly accomodated my 2 day shipping request. The ring is still a bit off but it is much better than before. I think they just need to axe that setting at Unique Settings. There is clearly something wrong with their mold/cast. I do still love my ring though. It’s beautiful. I figure if it still bothers me, maybe in a couple of years I will take it to a local jeweler and see if they can replicate the setting for me.
So all in all, I think moissaniteco is a great company. I don’t fault them for my setting issue. It is clearly Unique Settings NY that is having the issue. If anything, I think they should discontinue that setting on their website (but not before I get the matching wedding band! ). They were more than accomodating and helpful when it came to fixing my ring and I would work with them again in a heart beat. It’s unfortunate to see some of the negative reviews out there but I think sometimes people begin to stomp their feet and make a fuss when something doesn’t go completely their way. People need to realize that not every single item they send out will be perfect (my case, for example) but if you approach them in a calm and effective manner instead of kicking and screaming, they are more than willing to be helpful. I am not discrediting peoples bad experiences but with the way my situation was dealt with, it makes it very hard for me to understand all of the supposed rudeness that came from that company. I do agree that their online chat reps are a bit “clueless” so my suggestion- go straight to email and work with Chris.
Again, I am not saying peoples bad experiences are not valid but remember there are two sides to every story and people can get a little more ballsy when communicating through emails and things can also be terribly misconstrued. Just something to keep in mind.
