I already posted a pic of my ring on another board, but i wanted to see what ya’ll think of non-traditional engagment rings?? Not to knock diamonds by any means, because they are always fabulous, just not my style. Mine is a ruby, antique cushion ring. I LOVE it. Well….I picked it out in fact. LOL, but I am so excited!!
Just wondering how many other bees out there when the non-trad route?? Would love to see pics!

It’s very pretty, I love the cushion cut. And it’s more red than the rubies I’ve seen before, is there a name for this deep red color? Usually I think of a ruby as a pinker tone than say, a garnet, that is also red. Your ring is very lovely! There are tons of girls here with non-diamond engagement rings, they’re all so uniquely beautiful!

I love it…all the detail is gorgeous!

I have a simple diamond but I love the sapphire rings I’ve seen. They make me jealous. Your ring is very pretty by the way!

Ooh, so pretty! I have a rhodolite garnet. 🙂

Beautiful ruby! The cushion cut really suits the style of your ring. I’m a fan of red gems and have a garnet ring that’s emerald cut. My absolute fave gem though, is definitely an emerald!
Do any othere colored gem wearers find it really hard to photograph their ring? I’ve yet to take a photo that shows the true color of my ring. It’s a bright vivid green in person and not very blue at all, but it doesn’t look that way in photos…

Beautiful rings ladies 🙂
It is nice to see others with nontraditional erings!!!
Here is mine. It is an orange sapphire wrapped in a few diamonds.

@Minutiae: Definitely–my ring never looks as sparkly in pictures as it is in real life, and it always looks more pink than it is. 🙁

Ok, I’ll bite! All of your colored rings are so pretty! I wish I could wear orange. The emerald is so beautiful, too.
I love my sapphire ring, I chose the gem and he chose the setting. It’s much prettier than anything I would have done on my own. But I had to take about 200 photos to get one that even approximated the right blue!

Miss Sequoia – I love that trellis setting!

@Minutiae: we were told that emeralds were’t good for daily wear because the stone was too soft. i would have loved an emerald e-ring since that’s my birthstone. =(

I love all of your rings! I just got engaged this past week on our Disney vacation. Here’s my ring (grainy cellphone pictures are all I have at this point since we just got back):
It’s a trillion cut Tsavorite garnet with 3 diamonds on each side, in platinum. It’s my perfect ring!

I don’t have it yet, but I am hoping to get this one from Etsy. I am so in love with it, and fiance and I have been searching for a replacement e-ring that had more of a personality like mine.

Here’s my gorgeous emerald ring!!

I have a beautiful emerald. I always wanted a diamond and honestly thought how strange and non-traditional coloured stone rings were. I worked with a girl who had a sapphire. I didn’t like it, but I’m not big on sapphires and it was a very inexpensve ring, with that silver that’s shaped to mimc diamonds around the sapphire. Then while I was waiting for my partner to get my ring, I began working in a salon in quite an afflent suburb. (I do nails.) I saw a million and one diamond rings and to be honest,I got bored of diamonds. (Plus emerald cut diamonds are mega expensive.) And I looove my emerald.
Its colour comes up beautifully in photos, but I can never catch the way it sparkles quite right. But that might be my dodgy phone.
