@laurn88:Has it been sized before? Usually during sizing if they have to add metal for a larger size the back ends up being thinner and thinner.. did you do any strenuous activity while wearing it? Metals do bend.

They must be messing up the sizing and taking away metal.  I used to lift weights with my e-ring and it got scratched but it didn’t wear away that quickly.

That’s weird.  I don’t think it should be getting bent that easily.  It looks too thin to me.  You said it’s under warranty?  Can you ask them to replace the whole shank since you’ve had to have it repaired so many times?

That’s really upsetting πŸ™ it definitely looks too thin to me. I would definitely take it back ASAP and demand for them to provide you with a new setting or reconstruct the band or something.

wow, you’ve only had it since november?  that’s not a good sign.  it’s worn out like it’s decades old.  you may want to look at getting a new setting.

I just looked at mine, it’s a bit oval. It has been sized down from an 8.5 to a 7.

@laurn88: I’d go in and ask to speak to a manager.  Explain how many times it’s been repaired and ask what they can do to help you.  If he/she won’t do anything, you can always ask for the district managers name.  It’s unacceptable.  I could see if it was bent like that after wearing it for 5 years, but less than a year?  That’s bad.

My rink is 18K gold – supposedly verrrry “soft” and i’ve worn it every day for 2 years…and that hasn’t happened to me. They must have done something wonkey with the resizing!

That doesn’t look/sound right at all for only having it ~6 months. I’ve had mine for 1.5 years and it’s still perfectly round and had to be sized up like 3 sizes (from 7 to 10).

I would definitely confront them about their craftsmanship and/or get a new setting or even a new ring like your Fiance is suggesting. Jewelers are sometimes grumpy over choices in stone (mine isn’t diamond either) and it can be quite disheartening. I prefer not to do much business with them.

I’ve had this happen before, and the band snapped at the thinnest point shortly after it bent. But that was after years and years of wear. It was a ring that I wore from the time I was eight until I was twenty-two.

I would take it somewhere else if possible. It looks like Zales isn’t doing the job correctly.

Ha, yeah, my ex bought me one of those cheap-o holiday sets that came with a pink sapphire ring (from JB Robinson). I had to get it resized because I have tiiiiny fingers–the ring was a size 7 and it was too big for anything but my thumb. When I got it back, it looked exactly like your ring. Super thin in the back (to the point where I was worried that it was going to bend and snap if I picked anything heavy up), bent like that. Basically, it’s because they do a crap job. :
