I dont think I’ve posted my e ring on here yet!
Its a Ruby in a sailors knot with tiny diamonds sorounding it.
Anybody else have colored rings? 🙂 Everybody thinks I picked out my birthstone… But nope it was a total suprise to get a colored engagement ring 🙂 Its very differnent! Just curious if anybody else with colored rings got crap from family/friends? most of them really like it but some where like, “What the heck?! Make him get you a Diamond if he’s serious!”

I love ruby engagement rings! What better a color to symbolize love?!

Oooh, so pretty!
I absolutely love ruby engagement rings, and strongly considered getting one myself (it is my birthstone too). I think people who act like diamonds are the only acceptable option are behind the times, and that is coming from a diamond ring girl!
I’d love to see more pics, too 🙂

That ring is a stunner! So unique!
I have an amethyst ring I picked out. I love it, and know one has said anything but positive things (that I know of.) I seem to be continuing a family tradition- My grandma had a ruby, my aunt a pearl, and my Mom an emerald.
You’ve got a lovely ring and a wonderful person to spend the rest of your life with- everyone else can just deal with it.

Also, Any ideas of what type of wedding band to wear with this type of ring? 🙂

Oh, it’s beautiful! I would have loved a coloured ring. Birthstone rings were the norm for engagement rings way back when. That is, if there was any engagement ring at all. diamonds becoming the norm was mostly the result of an ad campaign. Anyhow, I think coloured rings have way more character, and yours is stunning with so much detail.
Wedding bands might be difficult, especially if you want to wear both rings on the same hand. You might just have to go to different stores and see what looks good alongside the ring.

@kayakblondie: I was thinking about something like these
What do you bees think?

I have an Emerald and YES when I first wore this a girl at my work place asked me if it was a Cocktail ring!!!!!! It hurt at the time – but it is a custom ring that in truth cost more than most Diamond rings! At the end of the day I LOVE it and the man that gave me it and that is what matters NOT what anyone else thinks – if YOU love it then FLASH it as much as you can 🙂

Do you mind if I ask, is that the gemvara ring? I love the sailors knot idea, i was looking at those today. I ask too, because they have a band made to fit it!
