Bees I am super-excited at how our invitations turned out! I ordered linen paper invitations from VistaPrint and then I did some things of my own for them to make them special.
Here is the invitation itself:
Here is the back:
First, our wedding is on the beach and since starfish figure into the theme quite a bit (chocolate favors, cake top, bouquets) I chose to use the starfish aqua colored invitation. Our colors are Tiffany and chocolate so close enough for me! Then I got these adorable starfish charms from Oriental Trading Company and tied them to 1/8″ white satin ribbon and made a bow:
Then, I got to work with the hot glue gun! I glued them to the top of the invitation:
I am so excited for how they turned out! Then, since we are not having RSVP’s mailed, but using our wedding website, I saw no need to pay a fortune for RSVP cards.I put the website on the invitation but to make sure everyone “gets it” that this is what I need them to do, and by May 1, I got some Avery white business cards and printed them up myself on my inkjet printer:
Now I know that the “T” word is tossed around a bit on using labels, but I knew that my handwriting is pure chicken scratch and I simply couldn’t see paying someone to do it so I got some Avery clear labels and since the envelopes have starfish on them and our name and address printed on the back flap (had a Groupon for THAT from VistaPrint so $109 of envelopes cost me $34 shipped. SCORE!) I used ink color to match and I LOVE how it looks. You can’t even see the label. It’s perfect!:
Here is a gratutious shot of our invites and cards while the glue was setting just because I think it’s cute.
All in all it took me about 3 hours to type all of the addresses since our guest list was not in a merge-friendly file, print the labels, tie all of the bows to the starfish and hot glue them on then stuff the envelopes and label them for 70 invitations. I started yesterday morning and finished up last night and they are in the mail today. I have some charms left over so I am making myself a bracelet!
Just wanted to share my first (semi-)DIY project!
