The sheer illusion neckline wedding dress I bought is irritating my skin. The trim on the illusion material is so scatchy and I turn red. It’s super noticeable and it hurts! I love this dress so I don’t want a new one, plus it’s not returnable. Has anyone had this problem? What’d you do? I am thinking an seamstress could add a satin trim to the edges but I think that’d change the look of the dress too much. Ideas?! Sorry for the terrible photos :/

Have you tried an anti-chaffing gel? I like monistat’s anti-chaffing and am using that with my illusion neckline too. It dries silky and when I last tried on my gown I had no problems.

I haven’t tried that. Do you think it’ll wear off within a few hours? I’m worried about having to keep applying. I’ll give it a test shot for sure.

I had the exact same problem. I used Bodyglide, but honestly, it didn’t help too much. That said, I was on a huge high the day of our wedding and it didn’t bother me until I got home. When I realized I was bleeding, haha.
Ask your seamstress if she has any ideas, she might. Your dress is beautiful btw!

I’ve also used it on really long sweaty runs and I haven’t had problems with it wearing off but I keep some just in case. If you’re worried, make it a point to check and reapply at every bathroom break if needed.

I have no idea if this will work, but what about transparent lingerie tape?

The back of my dress is sheer/lace and my consultant told me if it itches I could put a thin layer vaseline on my skin which will make a little barrier
I have a feeling after like an hour or so of wearing it my back will get used to it (if there is an issue ) but I am def going to have some on hand just incase!

How does the back fit on any of you ladies? To my dismay, I picked up my gown and it fastens up all ten million buttons of the illusion back, but I’m afraid it’s gonna burst! I’m trim so I highly doubt I can shrink in my rim cage or shoulders/back where I feel most constrained. Ugh. So stressful.

old thread but I have a similar issue. My illusion neckline is cap sleeve and where it meets my arm it turns bright pink/red! Anyone have any new suggestions?

So glad I read this thread, I’m wearing two dresses on my wedding day and both are illusion necklines. I’ll be doing the vaseline trick. Thanks guys!
