- Wedding: September 2013
I’m reposting this because it somehow ended up in the “college” thread …
My younger sister & Maid/Matron of Honor got into NYU for her masters degree and she is leaving in late May/early June for a semester that I believe starts June 13th.
Of course everyone (including myself) is really excited and happy for her, but I just realized that she is going to be gone for the entire year that I’ll be planning my September 2013 wedding.
Her graduation is in May of 2013, so she’ll be home in time for the shower, bachlorette party, etc, but … she’s going to miss everything else. And how is she supposed to go bridesmaid dress shopping and pay for bridesmaid stuff if she’s a struggling college student?
I know I’m probably being selfish, but I’m really disappointed. My sister and I both live at home for now, and when she first came back from school after getting her bachelor’s, we had grown apart and fought a lot. Now that we’ve finally become close again, she’s leaving again! I’m just really sad and really going to miss her. Plus I am going to be so worried about her being alone in that big city.
I didn’t expect to be this sad about the situation, and I would never, ever ask her to postpone this opportunity, especially since she already postponed it once when our mom got really sick. But … I guess now I just feel like there’s going to be this giant hole in my wedding planning and she’s not going to have time or money to even care about the plans.
