deal with this!!
Did the term gluteus maximus come to mind? It certainly did when I first heard it! I think it’s a horrible name 🙁 and I feel so bad for my little sweet nephew…he’ll be here any day now.
How can I talk her out of this name? Or if any of you bees like the name, help me warm up to it.

I think it is an AWESOME name. Makes me think of the movie Gladiator, and I think the name Max is cute!

@mcarey2: My first thought is Roman Gladiator. He would be known as Max.

It’s not too bad. I don’t love it but don’t hate it.

@mcarey2: Haha, my mom almost named my older brother Maximus or Maximillion. I’m so glad she didnt!

I agree, it is a dreadful name. I don’t know how you could talk her out of it though…

@SydneyJen: hmm…I guess I could call him max!

@mcarey2: I’m sure they’ll just call him Max which is cool.

It’s not that bad, there’s plenty of worse names, and like others have said he will be known as max 🙂

He’ll be tormented once they learn anatomy in school.

@Hyperventilate: that’s EXACTLY what I was thinking. Our dad even made a joke saying that while he’s a baby, they can call him MINIMUS 🙁

I like it. It’s her child and her choice… He will most likely be called Max for short. My neice has a very long and unusual name as well

One of my besties named her son Maximus and calls him Max. Also, whether you like it or not, it really doesn’t matter. Only mom and dad get a vote in baby’s name. Unless your sister directly asks you what you think of the name, I wouldn’t say a word. Bashing your nephew’s name is not really the best way to nurture a good relationship with him and his mom :/

@MadsTheGallifreyan: not her place… I’d be damned if anyone tried to “talk me out” of a name I chose for MY child. Op: I like the name, sorry.
