@kara67: OMG I am so sorry to hear that! He must be very fragile at the moment so perhaps the ward will web best for him – at least they can watch out for him there! I have my fingers crossed for you!
What an amazing bystander though – I hope when your son is well he can have the courage to thank him!

Oh goodness, I am so sorry about your son.
He needs dire mental help and I am glad he will get it!
YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE!!!!
My own mother talked suicide and I called the cops. The cops cannot do anything unless the person is in immInent danger, like a gun to his head, ready to jump off a building. Vauge talk about drinking one’s self to death, not going to be here for long, or stuff like that is not enough. They cannot do anything, so even if you did call they would tell you there’s nothing they could have done.
Don’t beat yourself up! You are not responsible by any means! Please consider seeing a therapist or counselor for yourself.

I am so sorry you and your family are going through this, and I’m grateful that he survived. Please do not blame yourself. I hope your son is able to heal, physically and mentally, and move on to start a new life. And that you and his ex can too.
