My hair is very, very straight. It’s a little longer than shoulder length – thin hair, just a lot of it. Because of my texture, I don’t have to do much with it. I never have to blow dry it, I don’t get frizzies – every once in a while it’ll become flat, but really – my hair just is. It never does anything special and it WILL NOT curl. (I’ve been wedding where my curls came out before I even made it down the isle).
So, I’m wearing a veil that has a comb that will sit on the back of my hairdo. And I want my hair half up/half down. But, I’m having my trial in 2 weeks and she wants pictures that I can’t provide. Unfortunately, the styles I like my hair wont do. I almost decided to just tell her “Hey, here is my veil, I want it half up/down, so what do ya think?” because I just don’t know.
Any suggestions bees? Anything will help!!

I have really straight hair as well. Have you ever used hot rollers? I find that using them seems to make my hair hold a curl better. A hair stylist should be able to help you find something that will work with your hair type!

have you ever tried sponge curlers or rags? put them in damp hair and then sleep in them overnight, take em out when you wake up. Makes a longer lasting curl!

I agree with Bostonsmom on the sponge curlers. My hair sounds very much like yours – it’s thin, fine, very straight, never have to blow dry, etc. – and for my senior prom we put in sponge curlers the night before and I actually held lovely curls. It’s the only way curl/body ever stayed in my hair. I think that checking with your hairstylist about what will work with your type of hair (and what products, since I never use any I have NO idea) and see what magic she can work.

Stylists can work WONDERS! My hair never holds curls for me but a stylist can always get it to hold a LOT longer than I can! And its not hairsprayed beyond recognition lol! I second the hot rollers and sponge rollers, though i prefer the hot ones because I like looser, soft curls

have you thought about extentions? not to make it longer (unless you want to) but to make it fuller? its something i have contemplated and actually made room in my budget for. i have very straight thin hair as well and it doesnt hold curls or really any style well, it falls out of ponytails! but my hairdresser is amazing and they live for doing hair so they can make what you want happen i would say go talk to a stylist, mine suggested extentions and im sold. it will just give me more volume and she promised she could get the curls to stay

Ladies, straightening iron curls. I have the finest, straightest hair possible that has never held a curl in my life. Using a straightening iron to curl my hair, I can get ringlets that I actually have to pull down because they’re too curly. I just did a test run for my DIY hair last night with no products at all. No even a drop of mousse or spray. My hair is still sproingy as all get out even after sleeping in it. And it’s really fun to do, too!

Thanks bees!!! I love all the options!! I will talk to my stylist about it and try some trials with these sponge curlers and straighten irons. Looks like my Maid/Matron of Honor and I have some work to do!!! Thanks!!!
