So one of those things I didn’t really think of when buying my dress was how I’d use the restroom while wearing it. I very much prefer to do it without any help holding my dress. I read about sitting on the toilet backwards, facing the tank (so the train/bustle doesn’t have to get bunched up behind). But that requires stripping down. I bought thigh highs so I wouldn’t have to take off stockings. But that still requires taking off panties (I am not one of those brides who can go commando). So I came up with an idea to made a closure on my panties, on the hip, so I don’t have to take them all the way off. I cut them, sealed the fabric with clear nail polish, and then affixed a bra closure that I bought at the fabric store. Since you could see the white elastic of the closure, I took off the two bows that decorated the front and sewed them onto the elastic to make a double side bow (I looked for blue ribbon so it could be “something blue,” but couldn’t find any). This is nothing I ever would have thought I’d do when I started this wedding planning ride, but I’m actually pleased with how they turned out! Hopefully they will work as planned.

That’s very clever, but totally mad! What an amazing idea!
You’ll have to let us know how you get on with them, when you’ve tested them with the dress.

Are you just going to pull them to the side…? I don’t see how that changes the fact that you’ll have to take them off to use the bathroom…

When she unfastens that side, the panties will fall down around the other leg and she will have a clear path.
It’s a great idea, altho I might have used velcro

I still don’t understand the need for this…Or what type of dress prevents you from having “normal” panties (if you have thigh high hose on)…

Great idea, and looks like you did a nice job too!

It’s a very clever idea, but couldn’t you just push the panties to the side while you pee instead of unhooking them to do the same thing?

A strange but cleaver idea.

She’s going to stradle the toilet seat. You have to free one of our legs or else it would be a mess. Very creative, OP! I have to say though, I can pee all day like it’s my job and I didn’t go once at my wedding. I held it for 8 hours. Weird, yes. I think it was all the excitement. I just didn’t have time to pee.

Wow – great idea. And I never thought about the specific logistics.
I’ll either DIY whatever undies I buy like you did (if that’s OK), or buy a stretchy pair so I can … er… pull them aside & sit.

Yes, I will straddle the seat, so I had to have a way to take them (or just one side) off. I thought of just pulling my foot out, but then I have to worry about my shoe, etc. I didn’t think of pulling them to the side, but I think that would lead to mess. I thought of velcro, but I was worried that the velco could come undone and lead to a very embarassing situation. I once had a pair of panties that just happened to have a small clasp on each hip. I joked that they were my stripper underwear, though they were plain bikinis and not very sexy. So it was thinking of them that gave me the idea. But I don’t have those panties anymore, and couldn’t find a similar clasp, so I went with the bra closure.

Awesome! lol…but I have a better DIY panties project: NOT WEARING ANY.

I’m just not comfortable commando. Strange but true.

Wow…never would have thought about it
