I’m planning to go get my very first manicure this week. I’ve asked about this on my Facebook, but I figure I’ll ask here too…
I am at a total loss as to what to get done lol. I don’t even know what 85% of the terms I’m seeing mean.
Here’s what you need to know: My nails are VERY thin (they bend and flex)and very short.
I really just want french tips..nothing crazy.
What do I get??

I get the gel manicures all the time and I love them because they last! You can go get these done even a few days before the wedding and not have to worry about chiPping your polish before the big day!
ETA: I also have very weak nails but the gel polish strengthens them and they actually grow without breaking too much.

Since its your first, I say get the regular. The gel manicure is still damaging to your nails (just not as bad as acryllic) and since your nails are already thin I wouldnt want you to push it.

I would suggest getting a regular manicure and possibly investing some money in a nail strengthener base coat or top coat. I use Sally Hansen – and you can bring your own for the manicure, you don’t have to use their base/top coats.
I would suggest a regular mani b/c I feel like whenever I keep my nails manicured w/ the Sally Hansen stuff, they grow longer and stronger. It also has to do with the vitamins you take on a daily basis and the amount of protein that you eat.

I have never had any damage to my natural nails getting the gel manicures and I am very anal about that too. I stopped getting fake nails and acrylic in high school because I didn’t like the damage it did to my real nails.

Gel manicures do not cause damage.
The method some technicians use to apply/remove is what causes the damage.
