When I received my reset engagement ring last April I could not decided what kind of wedding band to wear with it. I love love love blingy wedding bands but whenever I tried one on with my e-ring it looked like too much, and I really did not want to wear my e-ring on my right hand.
I could have gotten a thin eternity which would look adorable with my e-ring, but I didn’t like the way they looked alone. Thin bands just look weird on me, which I learned from my previous engagement ring.
Although I like plain gold bands, since every woman in my family has gotten married with a plain band, I didn’t want mine to be plain-plain. You know? So I was set on getting something mostly classic but with a little something extra.
I have always loved milgrain. It’s so, so beautiful and brings a little vintage flair to almost any kind of ring! Which is why I chose my comfort fit 14k 3mm yellow gold band with milgrain edging! My fiance even chose a cute engraving, “999,993 years to go!”. We always do countdowns and will have been together for 7 years when we get married in Nov! So it makes it extra special and makes the ring totally feel like MINE.
Without further or do, here is my little pretty! (Please excuse poor quality. I just whipped these up really quick and didn’t bother to find good lighting or making the camera focus nicely!)

That’s an amazing set…congrats 🙂
Is your ering yellow or white gold? I can’t really tell from the pic.

I can’t believe how elegant those look together! I normally like eternity wedding bands too, but this pic reminds me that a metal band can look just as classy and beautiful by itself. And my parents’ wedding rings are yellow gold with milgrain edges, so I am definitely biased in favor of your ring 🙂 Great choice!!

@Starla – My engagement ring is yellow gold, except the prongs are palladium because I like white colored prongs. Thank you! 🙂
Thank you, vegempanada! 🙂

@Mrs.Estep – Thanks! 🙂
Here’s another one.. since I just painted my nails lol. I like this picture more than the one of my two rings together (above) because with the angle I took the previous one it looks like my e-ring is overlapping my w-band… in this one you can see the individual rings!

I love the look of both your E-Ring and this W-Band… and they go together very very well.
I went out looking at W-Bands for the first time today…
It was an interesting experience. As much as the Salespeople tried to sell me a lovely Diamond Eternity Ring, I truly think it isn’t for me right now (lol, unless I can convince Mr TTR that I actually need 2 Wedding Rings)
My E-Ring as it is has a lot of bling going on, so I am more thinking a more understated W-Band that I can wear constantly and not take off…
So more “traditional” (but not too plain / boring… as you said). My E-Ring is very wide, aprox 10 mm… and I was thinking originally that my W-Band could be as thin as 2mm or less. But after trying a couple on, I’ve determined, I am most happy with a 2.5mm (although Mr TTR kind of likes a 3mm). I’m not one for milgrain, so thinking my “feature” will be a more rounded / domed band, comfort fit…
The one thing I will say for the Diamond Eternity Bands are they are thicker / higher, so they stand up better beside my E-Ring… that is the one thing I didn’t find yet, something with some height to it. I’ll keep looking but if I don’t find something that works, guess I’ll have to have my W-Band custom made to compliment my very distinct E-Ring
The other thing I have to consider is metal… My E-Ring is 18K White Gold, and although it is lovely, I know that 18K White Gold won’t stand up well long term… and I don’t intend to take my W-Band off very often (part of the reason I want a plainer band to begin with)… so it has to be tough enough for 24/7×365 wear. Therefore thinking now that I either want 10K White Gold or Platinum for it. Which means I may have to shop around… not everyone carrys Platinum, and the price difference is substantial… the clerk in the Jewellery Store today quoted me $ 1250 for one in Platinum, and $ 250 for one in 10K White Gold (same ring, same design)… can see why folks are attracted to the Diamond Eternity Rings… they fit right into the middle of that range.

This Time Round – Perhaps palladium? Palladium is about in between the price of gold and the price of platinum. It is also naturally white so you won’t have to get it dipped or anything! That’s why I chose palladium prongs on my e-ring.
I was actually trying to choose between my band and a high domed plain band! My stones are set high as well, so flat bands don’t “go” with it. The middle of my band (the part that isn’t milgrained) is a little high and I like where it sits next to my e-ring.

@6598731ssfse3: I haven’t looked at (seen) Palladium altho I’ve heard of it… lol, more Wedding Research must be done.
Now that you mention the details about your ring, I’ve gone back for another look… yes very nice, and it does sit a bit higher. Can I ask where you got it… as I said, I’m on the hunt.
*Just measured my own ring the band is thick, it sits aprox 3.5mm high (the feature diamond sits then again above that)

Very nice they look lovely together

Beautiful set. You are right the milgrain gives your ring that little something extra.

This Time Round – Yes, we ordered it from iweddingband.com. It was the second best price I could find, the first being at e-weddingbands.com. However, since I am in Alaska the shipping made the total greater than the iweddingband ring, which had free shipping. They were very quick too! It arrived in like three days after we paid for it.

I had a 3 stone ring where the side stones were much smaller than yours and I could never find a wedding band that looked right with it. If my ring looked like yours I would have done the plain band just like you did. Your set looks great!
