so to date we have spent a few hundred on our wedding. i sat down and figured out who we still have left to pay and how much and im in shock! we havent been keeping track of every penny but i have rough estimates on diy projects. when we sat down to do our budget i was never really givin one. :just dont go crazy” was the figure i was givin. my goal was less than 5k. heres my run down of what ive paid (and what needs paid) total
venue 2000 (500 more than they asked for extra alcohol)
projects (including all flowers) 300
video 200 (possibly free but still figuring that out)
dj 300 (also possibly free)
cake-125 (after delivery)
hair and makeup and nails 55
4265 is my grand total!!!
all my accessories belonged to my mom and grandma and my shoes i already had from a dressy dinner i went to (they were only 10 bucks though) im so excited!!! i was getting worried cus he kept telling me that im running out of money so when i showed him he was like wow…feels like we’ve written more checks than that! lol
anyone else have budget scares?

It sounds like you’re right on track. So why were you shocked?

That is so awesome! I hope i can stay on budget… catering will be my biggest expense. probably around 1300 + alcohol. (beer only because its at a park)

i was shocked because he kept telling me we were almost over what i had planned for the budget but when i figured it all out we were under budget quite a bit! i mean i know i cant go out and go nuts but at the same time its nice to know i still have wiggle room!

We 1k over and it doesn’t include a honeymoon. Everything is just soo expensive. I just want to host a dinner and it will be a min of $30/plate. I should’ve did a brunch wedding.lol

that’s awesome! Just a word of warning… I found I spent more freely the closer it got to the big day. Thinking we were okay and this or that was “only” $10 or $20 or whatever, stuff I hadn’t exactly planned on spending or put in the budget. And in the end we went over. Ooops. Just my little warning to keep it reigned in even if you know you are currently under budget. 🙂

@MsInterpret: I agree! I also spent way more freely the closer it got! Mainly because I didn’t have time, so if it was easier to get a pen for my guest book off etsy for $30 as opposed to combing the earth for one in person, I decided my time was more valuable. Plus I was exhausted:) But many things just started to not matter in those last few weeks just because I had so many things I was doing and trying to finish that I just became numb to money concerns if it made life easier.

@cr6zy: Oh my goodness how are you able to do hair/makeup/nails so cheaply? You must be doing it yourself and just buying supplies? Around here in our semi-small town its 65 for hair, 35 for makeup, and 25 for nails.
Isn’t it crazy how 70 dollars here and 50 there adds up to 5k?! I had the same budget figure in mind and I couldn’t believe how fast it was reached just by adding up little things like alterations, bridal party gifts, etc. Ahhh!!
Also you’re getting a super awesome deal on your photographer- nice work!

yeah i’m way over my original “budget” if you could even call it that anymore. And, i’m only just a year out. fml
