When I tried on my dress in-store, I was in between sizes, so because I was planning on loosing weight, I decided to order the smaller size. I admit, I’ve experienced some pretty bad dress anxiety – not being able to fit into the dress, the dress being too plain, a rushed decisian – you name it, I felt it! I jut keep reminding myself why I fell in love with my dress in the first place… Because it makes me feel amazing and beautiful.
Anyway, when my gown arrived in February, it didn’t zip up at all. I have lost 20 lbs since then so I decided to try my dress on again and this time it zipped, but only halfway. I had a mini breakdown and couldn’t help but just cry.
I am still planning to loose between 20-30 lbs but my wedding is in October, so it’s only 4.5 months away. i immediately started thinking if I should look into purchasing another dress, but I know there’s not that much time left to order another dress either.
Did any of you bees experience/or are experiencing this problem? Any tips – whether weightloss or if I should start looking into other dresses? Thanks girls!

Is the dress unable to be taken out at all?

can you add a corset back?

That’s more than 20 weeks away! You can drop a pound a week without a problem. Don’t stress, keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll be fine!

I totally think you’re going to get there! I highly reccoment talking to a doctor about developing a healthy diet, that’s a lot of weight to lose and you want to make sure all your organ function is good!
In the meantime consult your seamstress so you can have a back up plan if you still can’t get into the dress a month out. A good seamstress WILL be able to find a solution, even if that solution is taking the dress apart and putting it back together.

@MrsWBS: Mt thoughts exactly. Worst case, make it a corset back.

@lmdemberg: When my dress came in May 4 it barely zipped and when it did it still wasn’t even sitting wehre it was supposed and let’s not even go into the back fat and arm flab situation!!!
Fast foward two weeks and me doing a very strict diet plan and workout routin! I felt really good Saturday and decided I wanted to try my dress on again. Too my surprise the sucker zipped right up and there is a bout a half an inch space in my chest and 3 1/2 inches in my waist that can be taken in. I am getting married in 4 months and will be sticking with it, actually I bought a one year membership, so I will be sticking with it until I finally get pregnant and become too pregnant to workout.
It is called Kaia FIT I have no idea if it is national but it is amazing. If you message me your email address I will email you the nutritional plan at the very least. It is truly amazing today was our 3 week fitness check and I have lost 5 1/2 inches but only lost one pund. So to be honest the scale means little especially when we have to reset our body structure!

o my! im sorry your going thru this! when they ordered my dress they never even measuured me so when it came in of course it didnt fit. luckily i could send mine back, but when they actually measured me we realised they should of ordered 2 sizes up from the get go.
Def speak with an altertaions person and see if they can add a corset back, that will help some. also keep up with the exercise! and healthy eating of course. good luck!

@lmdemberg: I am guessing that are more of an hourglass and proportional than lower-body heavy, which would make that zipper issue pretty normal for you.
Is there a way you could have the dress tailored so the zipper stops at that point and the rest is an open back?

@lmdemberg: I don’t think you need to purchase another dress. You SHOULD be able to lose that much weight in a few months, with a strict diet.
Worst case scenario – take out the zipper and add a corset. Problem solved.

@Swizzle: yea, they ordered the right size and that’s what I thought too! Then I remembered that wedding gowns run way smaller than street clothes so that might be the reason. I also started to think that the floor sample I tried in-store was a little stretched out from other girls trying it out… But they actually measured me and I was in between sizes! Ugh so frustrating! I wish I just ordered the bigger size and got it taken in instead

@stuckinwonderland: I’m not sure if it can be taken out, I’d have to bring it tseafood seamstress and see what she says!

definitely something I didn’t think about.. I love the back of the dress and would rather not add a corset back, but obviously if it doesn’t fit come October, it’s using to have to get done!
@Jen51287: wow I can’t believe they didn’t measure you! I hope everything works out with your dress as well! At least you were able to send it back and get a different size.. Hopefully they didn’t make you pay for that tho! And thanks so much 🙂
