Just keep the preppy thing going. I’d suggest a big beaded necklace (maybe in your accent color) to go with the dres.

My girls are wearing navy and the guys are wearing traditional black tuxes. I see absolutely no problem with black and blue. (i’m not big on these wedding/fashion rules though!).

I’d actually choose a traditional black tux over the black on black-more preppy. Did you guys consider any alternative tuxes or black suits? My guy was adamant about a shawl collar, which ended up looking quite good. Also, you can get a suit for pretty much what a tux rental costs, so it might be a good idea to look into that option. I think doing a more retro feel for the menswear could also work – think Madmen.

I’d go with white linens. I’m not sure what you mean by black chairs, but as my Fiance told me, “no one ever walked into a fancy restaurant and thought the white tablecloths didn’t match!”

I don’t think your wedding is confused. I think maybe all this black seems uber modern compared to the dress.

Um…  My BMs will wear dresses in 4 different colors.  His groomsmen will most likely wear black tuxes with navy blue ties/whatever accessories he wants.  I would go with blue linens, myself, in your situation…  Your wedding doesn’t really sound confused to me…

I think everything should “go” together, but it certainly doesn’t have to all “match.”  I think if you would like the Groomsmen & Bridesmaid or Best Man to be more coordinated, I’d have the guys wear white shirts, instead of black, and go with a tie that brings in some blue.  I also think white linens would look great, too.  All of your colors are pretty cool in tone, so I would think about adding in a warm tone for balance, like yellow, which looks awesome with navy, black, grey AND pink.  By the way, I love the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, very cute!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the tux…but not a fan of the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses at all, especially compared to that tux.  Don’t get me wrong, I like the dress but not as a BM dress.  It is much to bland and I think that is why you are having trouble with everything else.  I say give the girls their $35 back and find another dress but being that your wedding is only 3 months away…it is going to be tuff.  Good Luck!

EDIT:  If you would rather keep the dress, then make the guys pick a tux a lot less formal….one that does not clash as much.

@meg526: i would seriously consider a shawl collar than. My guy specifically chose it because it felt more like a dinner jacket than a tux. He really wanted to wear a suit, but our wedding ended up really formal and my dress was so formal ($$$) that my dad insisted suits were too casual. This was a nice compromise for us.

The pic below is menswearhouse’s rental, but they make them with thinner shawls (which I think look better). He bought his at Jos A Bank on an awesome sale (but it’s more expensive than renting after you add shirt, tie, vest, etc, etc).

I love those dresses! How about colored costume pearl necklaces to  go with?

@simplifiedbride: I agree with everyone you said. I would also change the Bridesmaid or Best Man shoe color to a brighter color. I am not a huge fan of black/navy together in the same outfit, but I think for Bridesmaid or Best Man and Groomsmen its okay 🙂

I personally love the dresses!

trust me, even if your dress is offwhite/ivory, white shirts will still look great!  even if the tux rental place tries to convince you otherwise.  most dresses now are offwhite/diamond/ivory, and almost all guys wear white shirts.  there was a bee on here months ago who had MW tell her that her dress would look dirty or like it had apple juice spilled on it if her Fiance had a white shirt, um, that’s just crazy!

it really sounds like you’re just over the dresses.  if that’s the case, just pay the girls the $35, and pick out something new.  🙂

@meg526: there’s always ivory shirts too… not to be difficult Wink

Seriously though, sorry you are having to deal with this with so little time left! I think you can get LBD anywhere. I’d just go to the mall or shop online a bit. Ann Taylor has some nice stuff. Look for coupons.

This sounds like a job for David Tutera! Just kidding. Have you looked at other pictures of wedding parties where the where the bridesmaids were navy to see what the guys are wearing? Style Me Pretty has a great picture gallery! http://www.stylemepretty.com/gallery/color/0x50x100 This one takes you to their navy blue pics.
