Congrats – that’s quite an achievement! Always happy to hear when another girl switches from cardio to weights. Weights are SUPER effective for transforming your body!

tillymac :  I’m the same! When we first started dating, my boyfriend didn’t seem to believe me when I said I ENJOYED the gym. He’d say things like, “well, at least you won’t have to go to the gym,” and I’d be like, “I’m DEVASTATED.”

Fast forward 16 months and now he’s just as addicted as I am! I think culture just has this opinion that (for women at least) the gym is “bad” – and it’s mainly because most women just go to do cardio. And we can all agree (except for you lunatic runners) that cardio is terrible.

But once you see how much control you have over your body composition by lifting weights, it’s easy to fall in love with it. SO has developed chest muscles for the first time in his life at age 28 and he can’t get enough. 🙂

As for your weekends comment, I ESPECIALLY go on the weekends – then I can stay for 2-3 hours if I want! No time limits, I can plan my eating and everything just around my gym session, it’s my favorite weekend activity! SO and I were just saying this morning that we’re excited for this weekend because neither of us have any drinking activities with friends planned, which for us means we’ll be at the gym both days.

Are you tracking your calories/macros at all? If not, I’d say that’s a good next step. If you already are kudos! I got my “maintenance” calorie goal and my “lose weight conservatively” calorie goal from the scooby calorie calculator and that’s a very integral piece for me. I find that when I try to eat healthily, I’ll accidentally WAY under-eat. Then I go to the gym and kill myself and wind up getting sick b/c I’m in such a calorie deficit. Tracking my macros for the last few weeks has helped me to start seeing even better results!

Anyways, sorry to nerd out all over your post – congrats on having started the journey!
