- Wedding: August 2010
I said I would check in after the wedding, so here I am! No picture yet, but I will post those when I get them. Here are some of my favorite memories:
Our wedding was to start at 4:30 and it ended up DOWNPOURING right at 4:30. They rushed all the guests into the reception hall and we waited an hour for the rain to let up. It was actually awesome because it went from being 95 degrees to around 70 and I was happy as could be. Things were a little wet, but the sun came out, there was beautiful blue sky, and all the flowers in the garden smelled AMAZING afterwards!
My husband decided he did not want to do a first look before the ceremony. I am so glad we didn’t now. I know some girls say the walk was still very special, but I will always remember the moment I got to the altar and saw my groom with a single tear rolling down his cheek, smiling, and just in awe. That is probably the one memory I will always cherish from my wedding day.
The butterfly release was amazing! We let go 40 of them and not a single one was dead, dying, or hurt in anyway. They all few and it looked so amazing to see them taking off as people opened their individual boxes. Everyone from the wedding commented how unusual it was and that it was their favorite thing from the wedding.
At the reception we went with a sweetheart table and it was perfect. We got some time to sit and talk while the guests were getting food. Nobody really came and bugged us while we were eating, so we got to enjoy our first meal as husband and wife. Then we went around and mingled.
Since the rainstorm delayed everything an hour, nobody really got into the dancing since dinner was so late (luckily we had an appetizer hour too). We did the first dances and then I danced to about four songs before I decided to relax outside in the cool air and chat with people. Absolutely fun! I didn’t mind nobody was dancing because everyone was having a great time talking!
The kids were awesome. We had about 20 of them under 10 and we bought them some crayons, coloring mats, and some posters to color. They all gave us some artwork they made and it was great to have them there dancing. We had a few babies and not a single one cried during the ceremony nor the reception. Not a single tantrum was had by the toddlers. We did have my sister’s niece-in-law on hand who is a professional babysitter. She took the kids outside and played some games in the gardens while the parents enjoyed a hot meal together. It was awesome for all involved.
We also got a suite to stay in on the wedding night (even though we live in town). DO THIS! Our house was a mess because we were running around all week trying to get stuff done. It was nice to leave the wedding, take a hot bath, enjoy some chocolate strawberries and champagne and generally wind down. I loved our first night together as husband and wife. It was so relaxing and wonderful.
That is about it! I will post pictures when I get them and congrats to everyone on your wedding! It was absolutely the most perfect day of my life.
