My boyfriend kept telling me yesterday, teasing-like, that I’d “really, *reaaaally* like the super nice gift he was giving me this Christmas. I needed cheering up too, because I’m spending Christmas taking care of a family member who has late-stage cancer.
I always wear a cubic zirconia necklace. The original chain broke, it used to belong to my mom, the stone is slanted (broken/falling out) and it’s two decades old and worth $19 at best. He keeps looking at it. Maybe he’s gifting a necklace? Dunno…lol.
What’s the best non-ring present you received from your SO during the holidays?

carmensandiego38 : a couple of years ago, Fiance went to a lot of effort to find me a pair of Lorax converse. I have big feet (around a US 11) and finding ‘womens’ style shoes can be hard. He had to order them in from the states and I absolutely love them, but they’re too perfect to wear haha. I need to dig them out when the weather improves!

This is me and my current SO’s first Christmas together, so I’m excited to see what he gets me. But my best present from an SO was a Kitchen Aid Professional Stand Mixer that a boyfriend a few years ago got me. I still use it all the time!

I got this last xmas “from” my husband to mark our first christmas as a married couple. I picked it out and told him that’s what he’s getting me. It’s a garnet from gemvara with yellow gold. On the inside it’s inscribed with “Our first Christmas Together 2016”. It goes perfect with my grandma’s five stone band.
This year he’s gotten me a couple surprises and some stuff I know about and picked out myself. I already got one gift, which is an awesome bag for my new work laptop. I just got the laptop and I fell in love with this bag (and my husband has the backpack pictured next to it, so it was meant to be obvs.)

I think the best one was the earrings he gave me for our first Christmas (this will be our 3rd Christmas coming up) – I wear them all the time and they always generate compliments. I really LOVE last year’s main gift too because I’d wanted one for years (the largest size Smythson jewellery box) but I did have a hand in that one, so it’s a little extra special when he gets it 100% right all on his own like those earrings the 1st year. Another fab item from our 1st Christmas was the sleek makeup bag in tan leather he surprised me with, I use it daily and it’s held up like new (normally I need to retire makeup bags after a year so it’s quite impressive).
I have no idea what I’ll get this year!

carmensandiego38 : I also hope he gets you a necklace, it would be super sweet! I’m so curious to see your mums necklace, I love heirlooms!
The best gift my Darling Husband ever “got” me for Christmas was a trip to Disneyland our second year. He was my boyfriend back then and we were both young and living alone, so kind of broke. Plus we live in Australia. It was a HUGE deal to me. I was a Disney fan and visiting Disneyland was on my bucket list. While we were there, it was all decorated for Christmas. On the last night we danced under the “snow” (machine) after the fireworks. He slipped a Tiffanys necklace around my neck. It was perhaps THE most romantic moment I have ever had. My heart almost burst.
On the flight home he surprised me with one last thing, a snow globe that has Mickey and Minnie dancing under a street lamp in the snow. It was perfect. It gets pride of place every Christmas in our house.

Darling Husband and I have a ‘tradition’ of only spending about $40 on eathothers ‘under the tree’ gift, and then we do the Boxing Day sales together and buy something together (ie: one year we bought our Xbox One, another year we replaced a few small appliances). So I can’t say there is anything ‘noteworthy’ from Darling Husband…
The BEST gift I ever recieved from a SO was from this guy I was dating when I was 20. He was 27, and I was VERY self conscious about going out with him and his friends because I always felt so out of place around these ‘older people’ and their fancy clothes and accessories (I was a broke college student at the time). For Christmas he got me a pair of emerald and diamond earrings. They were STUNNING! He didn’t want me to feel ‘less than’ his friends and their girlfriends. The kicker was we’d only been dating for about three months at the time…so this was a VERY generous gift to a ‘new-ish girlfriend’!

I think this year is the best Christmas gifts from my husband. He won’t give me anything unless I pick it out myself and he buys it right then and there. This year he got me a juicy couture perfum, a inexpensive pretty wallet from target and a tennis bracelet from berricle.

I love the personalized gifts that my husband himself makes for me the most. They will always be so sentimental! One year he totally hand painted a kitchenaid mixer and put my initials on top of it, and another year he handmade a jewelry box for me out of bubinga (sp?) wood with my initial inlaid on top. The time and thought he puts into these types of gifts is just so heartwarming.
