- Wedding: March 2005 - Westside Loft, New York
I am a total hag when it comes to getting manicures, so I’d love to discover some pretty colors since I always alternate between the same two colors!
Right now I use Essie’s Wicked (a very dark brown/red a la Chanel’s Vamp) and Essie’s Sugar Daddy (a sheer pink). I either like very dark polish, or very sheer polish.
All the colors (esp the sheer ones) look the same to me in the bottles, so I never know what to try. Do you have any favorite nail polish colors?

I still love my old fave’s from OPI..for my toes..
"SoHo nice to meet you" and "I’m not really a waitress".
I have a french on my fingers now though.

I like OPI’s Sweet Heart (whitish pink) and Essie’s Madamoiselle. Sometimes if I am feeling sassy I’ll get St. Petersburgandy or Dutch Tulips in the summer. I am still sort of a nail biter so it is hard for me to keep color on my nails for any length of time so I usually opt for the pink shades…

if my fiance knew i was suggesting a color, he would give me major flak since my nails are usually in ghastly shape, but I really love Dior’s "nude chic"!! The best part is that you can be kind of lazy about retouching since it’s easier to camoflauge chips with this color…YAY!

I second OPI’s Sweet Heart and Mademoiselle. They’re my "go-to" colors. I also love Nar’s China Town (deep red) and OPI’s Mrs. O’Learys BBQ Sauce (purple). I love the look of neon orange, but I can never pull that off!

I also love OPI’s "Cha Ching Cherry" (hot pink) and "Midnight in Moscow" (dark dark brown). For something a little more tame/sheer I wear Essie’s "Ballet Slipper" (sheer pink)
@Bellenga – "I’m not Really a Waitress" is the first OPI I ever fell in love with and I still love to wear it when I need a sassy red color!

I LOVE "I’m Not Really a Waitress" too! I have it at home and always paint my nais that color if I don’t have time for a mani. I also like OPI "spitfire" and "lincoln park after dark"

I like OPI Make Love- it’s a pale pink, but it’s NOT sheer.
I also like Essie "Putty" which is a pale purple/pink color.
My trick when I’m in the salon is to paint each of my nails with the colors I’m interested in to see how they look on (even if I have to use their nail polish remover to get my old polish off so I can see what they will look like on my bare nail).

I have some bright blue from Target on right now… I’m a cheap nailpolish person 🙂 I change my mind a lot!

I hate to admit how many nail colors I own. I’m a total addict–always looking for new colors.
I *love* "I’m Not Really a Waitress" from OPI, too. Universally flattering and fun! I have TONS of favorites including a lot of OPI colors–including Hollywood Blonde, Lincoln Park After Dark and Have You Seen My Limo. I also like Essie’s Mademoiselle for a nice neutral manicure. I tend to use darker colors in the winter (I’ve been into purples and blues this year) and lighter ones in the spring/summer.
For something less expensive, I like Sally Hansen’s Salon line. I like Pat on the Black (it’s a dark reddish/brown) and Flaminglo (a bright pink, good for vacation pedis!)
OPI has a new line of "Fairy Tale Brides Softshades" which I’m looking into for my wedding. I made the mistake of wearing a bright red color to my first dress fitting, where my mom and grandma freaked out about how I HAD to make sure to wear something more neutral for the actual wedding day. Uh, it’s in 2 months, I think I have time to change it!

Essie’s Mademoiselle is my go to color. I have also tried and liked Essie’s Hi Maintenance and OPI’s bubble bath.
I have had some manicurist’s use different colors on the separate coats and I liked the results, but I can’t remember what the combinations were. They were the sheer shades.

I like french manicures because it’s just neutral.

I second rosychicklet and bellange- I love me my OPI!!! They have great color choices… I don’t o dark colors- (except dark purple when I feel like I am in a dark mood- especially this week with finals. <sigh>).
But they have great subtle color tones like "hopelessly in love" & "Just teasing". Both are sheer- and are great for that lil pink in french manicures…

For my sheer mani’s, I like to do 1 coat of OPI Passion (sheer pink) and 1 coat of Essie Mademoiselle (sheer nude). I find it’s the perfect combo for my skin tone.
For darker colors, it all depends on the season, baby! Right now I’m loving OPI’s Dutch Tulips, Cara Mia Crimson, and California Raspberry for spring.

I feel like such a copy cat but I’m a OPI "I’m not really a waitress" girl too. It’s definately my favorite (and my guy loves it too!).
