I wear the almond shape a lot, and almost everyone hates it. When I do it, I keep it fairly short and wear either a super neutral or a really dark polish. It looks awful with a french manicure. It’s already a bit of an “out there” look, but I probably wouldn’t suggest it to anyone over 30. The trick is to keep them slightly shorter than you normally would on an oval.

@Woodstock:  I work with an older lady who does the almond shape. She paints them purple and ends up looking like she has bird of prey clutches alongside a ciculatory disease. Dreadful.

@t_f_m_2point0:  I agree with this. I think it also depends on areas. In the NYC area many of the trendy nail salons are doing the almond or stiletto shape.

@Woodstock:  Well ever since some celebs started the trend, the boyfriend scratching nails have been super popular. I’ve never done them because I’d poke my eyes out. I have friends IRL that rock this look.

Usually I stick to the ones you listed too. Clean and short.

@Woodstock:  I consider what the PP posted as more of a pointed or stiletto nail vs almond.
