Can all you beautiful married bees out there name 1 category (flowers, cake, videography…etc) you have/would have/should have splurged on for your wedding and was well worth it, and 1 category you regret splurging on? (example: spent too much on favors that no one took home…etc).

The number one thing I’m glad we splurged on is the photographer. Ours wasn’t super-expensive, but wasn’t the cheapest either, and she was perfect.
We could’ve saved money and time on the centerpieces, but I don’t really regret them- they were DIY, so they weren’t that pricey, all things considered.
Our favors were lightsabers, and were one of the big hits of the wedding, so no regrets there!

Flowers – worth it. A few of our guests told DH that people audibly gasped when the door to our ceremony room was opened — it was almost all down to the flowers. People couldn’t stop gushing about them all night and still bring them up to me a few weeks later.
I’m trying to think of something we shouldn’t have splurged on but did, and I can’t settle on anything. Our vendors were expensive but came through in a big way, so it’s hard to regret any of it. Maybe the closest thing is welcome bags? I got a lot of positive feedback on almost every other aspect of our wedding but crickets on those, so maybe they didn’t make as much of an impact as I had hoped.

Venue. Our venue cost about 50% of our budget. It was right on the Pacific Ocean with a gorgeous backdrop. A year later, I still get compliments on how beautiful our venue was. Our guests couldn’t stop taking pictures of our ceremony spot.
I didn’t spend a lot on flowers, but I’m so glad that I didn’t spend a penny more on them. I have heard more brides complain about the costs of flowers more than anything else after their weddings. And although, we didn’t spend a lot on our flowers, we still got a good amount of compliments on our flowers. Also, videography! I don’t even know where our video is now. That’s over $2k down the drain! Find a cheap videography if you want a video.

I splurged on venue, food/cake/bar, and photography.
Literally cut corners everywhere else.
No regrets about splurging! I just wish I could have saved up for another year so I could have splurged on the things a girl dreams about, like a better wedding dress and flowers.

Straight away we both said we were so glad we splurged on videographer. Theres so much we missed and/or can’t remember. We are so glad we will get a reminder very soon.
I didn’t exactly splurge on dress budget as it was small, but I wasted the small amount I had on a custom dress from China that didn’t work out well at all and left me with no dress 2 weeks before the wedding (id started about 8 months prior so it wasn’t like it was a last minute order). In hind sight I’d have kept looking for a secondhand or sample dress until I found ‘the one’ for my money and not been so hasty to give up on that route for a budget dress in the style I wanted.

Im not actually married yet but can imagine the others are right… without a decent venue (not expense just decent) you have nothing, Im slightly obsessed with centerpieces but I doubt they are actually important
flowers arent important to me or photography (given I worked in photography, ive been there, done that and the sparkle wore off long ago)

- Wedding: August 2016 - Theater
We haven’t had our wedding yet so maybe these will change, but the cost of everything is already clear.
Don’t regret splurging: Photographer, we’ve worked with her before and she gave us a generous discount.
Regret: My dress, though still on the lower end of the scale at 1k. I’ve seen preowned dresses that I would’ve loved more go for half that.
