- Wedding: July 2012
I was just married this past Saturday and just picked up a couple of certified copies of my marriage certificate today.
I haven’t done any name change stuff yet, although I did get MissnowMrs complete package to help with all of that.
We are planning a honeymoon in the next couple of months to France. Should I wait until I come back to change my Social Security card, bank account names, driver’s license, etc.?
I’m actually thinking it would be better to not change my passport at all until it expires in 4 years because I don’t want to pay close to $100 just to change my name.
We were hoping to add each other as joint tenants onto our bank accounts. So then should we just wait to add until after name changes are complete? Because otherwise we’d have to do it twice (once adding my maiden name and then change it to married name).
We have wedding gift checks made out to both Mr. First Name Last Name and Ms. First Name Maiden Name as well as Mr. and Mrs. First Name Last Name. I have been co-endorsing checks made out to my maiden name for him to deposit into his savings account, where we have decided to deposit everything. If a check is made out to our married name, and I co-endorse it, would I just sign my married name even though it isn’t legal yet and he can also endorse it and deposit to his account? Would they even question it?
If my name isn’t legally changed, can I change it at work (like my work email)? I assume I can’t change my name on my paycheck until my Social Security card and all that is changed.
