I know you that if you change your last name within a year of getting your passport, you can have it changed for free. Has anyone done this– do you still use the old passport (and they add a page with new details) or do they issue you an entirely new one?

You do the same thing as if you are renewing – send in your old book with a new pic, then they reissue a new book with your new name. I haven’t changed mine yet, so far I have just gotten plane tickets and cruises booked in my maiden name, and since they only use my passport as identification, as long as they all match, then its fine. I got my passport 2 years before we got married, and I think its crap that if you don’t do it in the first year, you have to pay full price. I think that it should be discounted, since you are only changing your name, but I guess since they give you a whole new book, that’s why they charge you full price (still crap, in my opinion)

Thanks! Although I am a little sad, since my last passport picture was actually good!
