I am a newlywed. A friend asked for my email address and I gave her my new one, that has my new last name. The response I got was ‘oh, cute!’
I am not sure what to make of that. I am not sure why that is cute. Any thoughts?

She probably just thinks its nice that you’ve taken the name on in all aspects of your life!

@iloverocks: I agree with laurengrapes! She probably just thought it was cute to see you take his name. Don’t look too much in to it 🙂

I agree with the prior posts.
It also depends on how she said it. She could be jealous you are starting this new exciting life. If she’s your good friend I’d ask her about it of it’s bugging you That much.
Be proud of this exciting name change and don’t let anyone throw shade. 🙂

How soon after did you change your name? Cute could be because you changed it quickly- already fully embracing marriage. Or cute could be that you have embraced this traditional aspect of marriage.

It was probably a harmless comment, meant to say she was happy that you’re married and such. Your name change is a little reminder that you’re a newlywed and married now. I know when I hear a newly married friend refer to her husband instead of boyfriend it’s kinda fun and exciting since I’m happy for her. So it’s probably just like that.

I would have made a similar, if not the same, comment and I would have meant nothing by it other than “oh, cute!”. That sort of thing is nice, name changes, etc, they are a symbol of love. It IS cute.

There’s nothing to make of it!

I probably would have made the same comment, haha. The first couple of times I had to say Mrs Last Name my friends just let out a huge “awwwwwwwww!”
