@kittywolf13:  According to several polls, most women in North America drop their maiden name completely. The idea of doing so is totally foreign to me and if keeping maiden as middle name is an option I would do it. Some states do not allow it, but luckily,  your state does. I don’t know of any cons.

    Do what you feel.

Add your husband’s name and have two middles. Use your maiden professionally.

I dropped my maiden in part because my middle name already honored my father and because my middle sounds pretty with my first.

Personally I would say it might be refreshing to have a new surname. If you are a successful artist already, don’t change it. If you are launching you could try the new name. Or, if you are really torn take a whole new artist’s name. You don’t need to use either, neither a throwback from the past nor the future Mrs name.

Drop your original middle name.  I went from First Middle Maiden to First Maiden Married. I had zero problems with either the state or the feds (although a few people were confused at like the DMV).  It’s worth considering.  Then you can use First Maiden on your art.
