We are going to Mexico for our honeymoon the day after our wedding. I obviously won’t have had time to legally change my name yet, so should I book travel with my maiden name? I don’t want to get stuck at the airport because the ticket was booked under the wrong name.

Your passport and booking name need to match. So book under your maiden name.

Use your madien name. You cannot travel internationally or even domestically if you ticket does not match your form of ID.

That’s what I was thinking. Thank you! 🙂

We aren’t honeymooning until July 29th but I went ahead an postponed a name change just in case. Although, I’m getting kind of comfortable with the maiden name. (Don’t tell the hubs haha).

I just did a very detailed reply to this for someone else yesterday here on the HONEYMOON BOARD (and it tells how it all works in regards to Passports & changing your name)

I JUST looked this same thing up yesterday, and all the advice was use your maiden name, it makes it SO much easier to travel since everything will be in your maiden name.

Thanks again ladies! I should have dug a little deeper before starting a new thread. You’re all so helpful!

yes, your passport must match your ticket.
keep in mind that even months after your wedding, if you travel, you need to book under your passport name exactly. marriage certificates will not be good enough for ID changes.
i have been at the airport where a newly married couple have tried to board a flight to cancun and they were flat out denied due to her passport still in her maiden name and her ticket in her hyphenated married name. they tried to show their marriage certificate as proof and they said that it was useless. it was sad b/c the bride was in tears.
