Hubby and I (WOOOOOO!) returned this past weekend from our weddingmoon, and I have yet to start the so fun name change process. I have my name plate all set, but should I wait until it’s changed in the work directory before I put it up? I have been using my maiden name this week as my signature but I am so antsy to tell everyone who didn’t know I am a married lady now!

@mrs_pudding_pop: I’d be inclined to just sneak your new name plate in – it’d be fun to see who starts noticing! 🙂

@pengoala: Ha! I know, right? Even my boss asked me where my new name was and I had to explain I haven’t “officially” changed it yet…lol

@mrs_pudding_pop: Haha, eh, it’s just a logistic! I didn’t officially get my name changed until 6 months after the fact. It’s not a huge deal. 🙂

When i first got married i changed my email signature to Firstname Marriedname (formerly Maiden name) so people would know it was still me, then had them change the company directory. Most places can route your email so ones under your maiden name still go to you until people figure it out.

@mrs_pudding_pop: Did you end up changing your name at work yet? If so how did it go? I havnt even changed to my marreid name yet and have been married for 9 months lol Where I live they want all this documentation and stuff to change your name and getting it can take awhile. How was your wedding by the way?

I’d put it up. That’s the least of your name change worries lol. I’m in the middle of the fun process myself. At least here in Canada, it’s a royal pain in the ass. Sigh….

@sweetchiquita12: Haha, yep it’s all changed and everything now. 🙂 The wedding was fantabulous!
Why is it a PITA in Canada?

@mrs_pudding_pop: Nice! Glad the wedding went well! Congrats! Canada is hte worst with name changes..first you have to wait 3 months after your wedding date to get he marriage license then the process of changing all your id’s and stuff is soooo annoying and long! Thats why its been 9 months since my wedding and I have only changed about half of my stuff. My boss even tld me not to change my name at wotk..umm excuse me why would I keep my maiden name! I dont care ifhte cusomters get confused they will get used to my new name!
