I dont think she will get teased. However, kids find anything to tease one another about these days….

@keranos:  I would never even had made the connection from Scarlett Herbert to S.Herbert to sherbert.  Her name would rarely be written that way.  Usually in school they write names first name last initial: Scarlett H.

I say, no one will probably notice on a regular basis… and that said, I think Sherbert is one of those cute nicknames her friends/teammates would give her… I always think of nicknames that way, imagine kids after winning/rocking a game (meet, match, show, concert, etc. depending on if they play any sports or instruments whatever) and their friends crowding around patting them on the back and saying said nickname… I always try to think of nicknames as positive, and Sherbert is totally not a terrible nickname!

If your last name was Bass or something you shouldn’t name your kid “dum”… THAT would be bad… lol

Kids will find something, one way or another. As far as teasing, I don’t think “Sherbert” is all that bad, if they even notice at all. I LOVE the name Scarlett ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s beautiful and will still be fantastic when she is an adult.

“Sherbert” is a misspelling anyway, it’s actually “Sherbet.” So if anyone gave her a hard time, she could give them a hard time right back about not being able to spell properly!

I think Sherbert sounds cute and I could see it being her nickname in a fun way! ๐Ÿ™‚

I love her name by the way.

I dont think they will tease for sherbert. However, as she gets older and if they have to read the scarlett letter she may get something from that. ( but hopefully by high school time they would get over it, but kids can be cruel).

I do very much like the name tho!

The issue will come in college or careers – in my job, computer log-ons are usually first initial, last name – so, her logon to everything would be sherbert. By that time, people are less cruel.

But kids will probably figure it out and tease her.  Personally, I’m not a fan of the name combination though.

I voted not liking the combo. Because i dont like names where the ends sound similar (-lett, -bert [often bronounced bet]) . Don’t think I was being ‘harsh’ by voting that, and if you didnt want that feedback you shouldnt have included it as an option.  I personally think the Sherbert thing is quite cute and it’s not like its a ‘bad’ or negative word…

I voted before I read the post (I rarely do that!) because I thought you wanted to name your daughter Sherbert.  I was like, um, that’s NUTS.  HOWEVER…the name Scarlett Herbert is nice sounding, and it’ll be fun when she gets her assigned email in college: [email protected].  Though it could be: [email protected]…  That’s not as fun.

I think if people call her Sherbert, it’s cute, and I like the name Scarlett.
