SPLURGE:  $2500 on our dj, but he’s also doing uplighting inside the venue, and playing music at our ceremony

SAVE:  $5000 on catering/o’derves hour/drink/s’mores bar/cake cutting.. He is a friend so he is giving us our catering for 50% of what it WOULD have cost through a big company

Biggest splurge- my dress. $920 after 15% HST. Shoes $52. Alterations as a wedding gift. Borrowing jewellery. No veil. That’s…almost $1000. Omigosh….No wait, hair and makeup will cost $65, so…OVER $1000. On myself.

Biggest Save-The venue is technically free, but has no linens or dishware, so I don’t think that counts…..

So….invitations at $36, I guess.

Biggest splurge: My wedding band 🙂

Biggest save: Our wedding invites. They cost us (with postage) $300-$350. If we would have had 175 invites made, it would have cost us (with postage) around $600-$700!

Splurge: Probably will be Chiavari chairs and the cake. I make cakes, and my standards are VERY high. I am also going to do uplighting, a photo booth, and a candy buffet.

Save: The venue was $1,500–we can hold ceremony, reception and cocktail hour there, and (I think) it’s GORGEOUS. They will also let us bring in our own food and alcohol. I am doing all the flowers with vases from Hobby Lobby that I will sell afterward. Linens I plan to buy and sell afterward. Also designing all paper goods with my Cricut. No wedding band for me, and his will probably be under $100. My sister is doing my nails for free. Photog is only $1300.

Splurge:

My Hey Lady wedding shoes. They were about $320… which is ridiculous, I know. I somewhat justified it because I have really painful flat feet and they are comfy, but it was still a splurge.

Save:

Rehearsal dinner:We are doing a rehearsal dinner brunch which is going to save a lot of money! Brunch or lunch is much cheaper than dinner.

DJ: Only $750 for everything

Wedding invites: bought the invitations and rsvp cards for 1/2 off using a Groupon, and designed the inserts and printed them online.

Alcohol: our venue and catering company lets us supply our own alcohol.

splurge:  head piece 250.  i just fell in love and had to have it more than my dress. i think i even want my hair like hers. it is a lot (to me) for a hair piece.Has anyone got the Double band golden tiara from Twigs & honey? : wedding double band tiara golden headband head band style 147 tiara twigs honey Picture 12

Biggest Save: so far boutonnierers will be homemade from shells and forget me nots. also planning on using lots of wild flowers picked the day before for the ceremony. i also plan on buying sunflowers for the bouquets  which are 1$ a piece. so im pretty excited about that. they are so big you only need so many. invitations and rsvps with envelopes were under $50.

Splurge: My dress was ~$3,000, but I do plan to sell it afterwards. I guess that my venue is also a splurge at ~$7000, but that is actually really budget for where I’m from. I think we could have chosen to get married somewhere other than wine country and paid less…. but for me, it’s home.

Save: I’m making my own wedding cupcakes and got 1/2 off of our Chandon sparkling wine!

Splurge: The venue (which is also the caterer) itself, at $100/pp plus tax, tip, ceremony fee, bartender fee, and sound equipment fee. (Fortunately we have a pretty small guest list.)

Save: Not having flowers or a DJ, DIYing most of the decor.
