Splurge:

Photographer: $3500

Honeymoon: Turkey and Italy (hotels & flights $7000. Plus who knows how much for spending money…)

Invitations: $700 for 35 invites. Yes, $20/per invite.

Save:

Venue:We are getting married on a Thursday because our small wedding doesn’t meet the minimum headcount for the weekend. Thus our venue is a steal because its an off day! Coming out to about $5000 total for a cocktail hour, seated dinner, butlered service, and open bar. Plus it is a gorgeous setting! Built in 1926 and screams Gatsby charm!

Dress: my dress was only $1,000. I had budgeted much more, but just happened to fall in love with one at Jcrew that was priced lower than what I had allocated.

Shoes: Also an unintentional save. I found a gorgeous pair of Vera Wangs for $60 that normally retail for $300. I would have paid the $300, but there was only one pair left and just happened to be a size 5 so they were heavily discounted!

Splurge: Photog (6k) Videographer (5k) Tent/Venue (~12k) and Reception Food/Alcohol for 150 (including all staff/service charges/taxes/etc) (17k) *gag*

Save: All stationary is being designed by us (sis in law is a graphic designer) and printed by a BM’s dad through his printing company. All welcome bags, menus, programs, escort cards, photobooth backdrop and little reception details are being DIY-ed. Flower girl dress and my reception skirt are being made by my mom 🙂 Saved $500 on photobooth when they sent out their “new lower 2014 prices” (i booked in 2013, you’re darn right I called and freaked out to get it adjusted!!!)

Splurge: My attire was about 1,225 and We did a unity cross (200) but we will have that displayed forever and I didn’t want a candle because my mom and I were going through her wedding stuff and her candle looked gross and she threw it away that day. I wanted something I can have displayed forever and remind me of it. Sand is cool too but I hate the ones without the top because it will just collect dust or have a major disaster if it falls over.

Save: We got a photographer last minute and she gave us 60% off becuase she just moved from California and had no clients where I live so that cost 1100. Videographer-we didn’t go with a professional but hes done quite a few weddings (600). Loved both and SO worth saving. We also went with a recent culinary/baking graduate and she did huge wedding cake, grooms cake and 1 year anniversary cake for 350. it was SO moist and the best cake I have ever had!!!

I also made my bouquet out of ribbon and for the handle I used lace from my mother’s wedding dress! I LOVE it and it is on our living room currently. And I bought the birdemaids clutches as part of their gift for only $20 instead of making/buying their bouquets. It was a winter wedding and we didn’t have any flowers other than bouts, corsages and my bouquet. I made the bouts and corsages as well!

And for our centerpieces, my grandpa helped me cut branches and spray paint them silver. My husband’s aunt let us borrow all of the vases and tea light holders. I got 50 table runners for $40 which is cheaper than renting, and got the silver ribbon and jewels on an after christmas sale so they were super cheap!
