@Ms.BlueEyesDC:  10% is standard tax in DC and that service charge is pretty standard for venues as well. I would say that for that amount of people, I’m not sure if 1789 would fit. However, F. Scott’s should, but I’m not sure what the cost would be. Have you had any luck in contacting them? Also, Clyde’s (who owns 1789) is on M St. and could also work.

@CaliHoya:  We had our reception at Sequoia – they have the back room you can rent.  Peacock cafe is great and can be semi private. I will reiterate Chef Geoffs — the one on New Mexico has great private rooms.  and also Clydes again 🙂

@Ms.BlueEyesDC:  It’s going to be very hard to do 70 guests for $2500 at the places listed. You are going to have to find a place that can do $24.50pp (with an additional $10.50 for tax and gratuity). That doesn’t count appetizers, drinks and cake. If you want to keep it at that price, you may have to go to a local restaurant like a Mexican place. You can also cut down your guest list or if possible increase your budget.

I can suggest a great place that might work for you. We had our Rehearsal Dinner at J Gilberts in  Mclean (and the food was delicious). The cheapest lunch they have is $25. Their private room only holds 20, but they do have the back part of the restuarant they can block off fo you. Check it out.

We also looked at Trummer’s on Main in Clifton. Their Attrium room would be perfect for 70. You could keep costs down by having a stand up horderves and dessert reception their.

If your budget expands, try looking into 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church. It’s a great place to have the ceremony and reception at the same time. (But it’s like $75pp plus tax and grat, but it includes the cake.)

What about the Boulevard Woodgrill in Clarendon, Arlington.  I went there for brunch and loved it then found out they have a private banquet room.  Good luck with your search!
