we named ours. Darling Husband works at starbucks and that’s where we met. i was a customer 🙂 since it obviously played a huge role in us getting together, we named our tables after espresso drinks. we got married in the winter so we used some of the winter drinks that they make. our guests loved it!

We used names. We didn’t have a theme to our names, we just used things that were “special” to us. Everything from the city we live in, to the breed of dog we have, to our honeymoon location to our favorite restaurant. And on each table name is a little explanation of why we chose that word. We had to come up with 18 words–it was tough! At the end I was like “We both like jalapenos, lets name a table jalapeno” lol I was grasping at straws. (jalapeno is not one of our tables)

We did the same as PP, we used names that were personal to “us”.. Our first vacation spot, first movie, first kiss location, honeymoon spot, first dance name, favorite sports teams, hometowns…. it was fun.  We also included a little tag line on each one explaining what they meant.

@sn2bmrsmntgmry:  Did the guests seem to enjoy this? The only thing I’m worried about (not too worried, but it’s crossed my mind) is the guests taking forever to find their table. Since it won’t be in numerical order, they’ll have to just walk around and find it. Though I think it would be fun to read all signs & what the words mean to the couple.

We had open seating so that was not an issue with our wedding.  Could you have like a cute “map” of the room at the place where your guests pick up the table assignments that shows where each table is?  You could make it in your wedding colors or something to make it match…

Ours will be constellations! The theme is Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” painting, and stars feature prominently in other areas of our decor!

We’re doing street names in the city where our wedding is being held. The table names will be printed on vintage (reproduction) maps of the city itself. Also, the escort cards will tie into the map too, to keep the theme going.

@sn2bmrsmntgmry:  that’s an idea.. I’ll have to think about it and see if it’s something we can do. Thanks for the suggestion.

we are doing table names after our favorite songs, and when that songs comes on that table has to get up and start a the dancing. Everyone we invited is a dancer, I cant wait but at last I have a whole year and a half to go

We’re doing it!  We met, got engaged, and will be getting married at our alma mater.  We are naming our tables different buildings on campus and will be setting up our reception venue to look similar to the campus.  We will have a map of campus blown up next to a blown up map of the reception venue so people can a) find their table and b) see the connection.

We named ours after songs- when the song played at the reception then that table had to go out to the dance floor and dance. It was a blast and everybody loved it.

I am planning on doing names for our tables.

@X0JLYNN03:  I was worried about this too, but I saw this picture on pinterest, and am going to do it! We’ll do a number at the top with a name under it so they can still find where to go! 🙂 We only have 8-9 tables, so it’s hard coming up with 8-9 words believe it or not! haha so far I have places that are special to us, favorite wine/drink for each of us, etc…that or I was thinking types of fish-we both love fishing lol
